Yaneks and his family live in krakcow,Poland but in just a blink of an eye,their city was invaded by the Germans begginging of WWII, for now yanek and his family remain in krakow for a little while they stay in thier flat with several other family's . Anti-semic rules have been put in place that persutes Jewish people taking away any rights they had.overtime walls are built up around the ghetto to contain the remaining.Jews who have not been taken for resettlement or deportation yet. one-by-one many Jews were relocated to other jewish ghettos . work camps concentration camps or were killed on sight.

yaneks Figurative journey

With stress no food ,and constaint hiding . yanek is living in fear of being caught by the natzis. His emotional state is one of constaint terror and panic at what was awates him at evrey turn . The unknown aspects of the war leave a feeling of unsettled.Yanecks early life as a 10 year old boy before the war was very normal he attended school played with friends , and went to the synagogoue with his family.He loves his mom and his dad and look up them but as the war continues yanek begins to doubt his fathers constaint hopefullness and positivity and wonders who is really right his father or uncle moshi " I still worried he was worng, but fresh bread made me forget all my troubles fo a little while , least "(pg 25) Doubting your parents for the first time is a strugle for yanek exspecialy in war-torn poland.

while yanek is on his lowest point telling himself that he is never going to make it an he was like at this point I should probobly just kill myself when he first gets to the camp. But then he thinks this is not what his family would have wanted. His family would have wanted him to survive. survive for them that's what they would have wanted. so now he is trying to get more confident he is trying his best to survive at this camp. While at the camp he sees his uncle moshi and he gives him a speach when he finally gets to just talk to him. he say at this camp you have no name you have no identity if you want to survive you have to do what they tell you but remember at this camp you will not survive if you do not listen to them at this camp you have no identity.....

Yaneck one day at roll call yaneck and 50 other people got reported to a new camp the sailt mine for work well there he realizes another person from krackout later on he finds out he was one of the prison guards that rated his apartment. other people noticed that he was one of the people that rated there apartments he was a June rot so because he was so mean he was beat up and they put sailt in his wounes to make it a more painfully death he did end up dieing....

They where taken out of their camp and put into a cattle cart everyone huddled in to a tiny little cart someone said they could not breath and where begging to get out then pow they got shot from the outside of the cattle cart the gard said now you dont have to worry.on the way there someone died the person that was right next to yaneck fell on to his shoulder and died of hunger.yanek could barely breath they got to the camp and people where throuing snowballs at three cart and he got snow on him because he was dieing of thirst he licked all the snow off him that he could and also scooped snow out of the vent and ate it. and someone told him once you get into the camp snad under one of the vents you will die quicker.

yaneks life was hard in berkanu with the bathroom situation and the sleeping situation but one good part you couold take showers and be a little clean."The nazis lines us up, still naked and shivering first they shaved our heads . with our hair gone we wall looked the same" this is when basicly there idetities where taken away and they also got numbers tatooed on then the only thing that was diffrent was the numbers.

when yanek arrived at Auschwitz he saw the gate that's says work will set you free but when the got into the camp one of the Nazis said you are coming in the gate but the only was out is the chimney mostly telling them that the only way out was to be killed but then he met a friend there named fred the only person he had ever made physical contact with after uncle moshie had passed later on he got sick to where he could not even get out of his barrack at role call he got dragd pout and hung in frount of everyone at role call and the worked said this is what happens when you don't work. next they ended up leaving aushwits and yanek thinks in his head haha look at us now we are e;having out the gate that we were only allowed to walk in thouh they where gaven a half a loaf of bread and they where set on a death march in the freezing cold the only reason they left is because the Germans where getting closer and closer to them so they had to flee due to all the illegal acts they where doing.most people got shot or died due to the weather or if they where too behind they where shot or just died due to the weather.

Yaneks was sent again to another consontration camp to get there they had to do a death march they suffered nine days walking though the cold snow some of them did not even have shoes and when the arrived at shashen housen and when they where there they stood in role call for hours and then one person accidently moved they had to stand in the Sachsenhausen suluit and he fell out of the position he got beat to death even one person could not take it anymore so ran out of role call and jumped on the electric fence to kill himself because he could not take it anymore...

On the way to the new camp they where going to they had to have a death march on the way there when they got there and the person that ran the camp was complaining about how week they where so they said no work for a week yanek just thought that they where just testing them but they actually where being serious they did not work for a week al; they did was eat food and sleep in the book yanck said that the soup was thicker and the bread was nice and fresh yannek thought this would actually be a better camp than the others there was no chine eathir or crematory systems so this camp was actually just a work camp not a killing camp . Untill yaneck finds out that all of the camp manegers where murdered one was called moon face and he called yanek over to him and beat him up because he looks at him wired.

they arrived at the new camp where the two head leaders that where hirible and cruel and after a little of being there there where animals like a petting zoo they said that had the animals to entertain the kids that they had they where running out of jews. there where Nazis that tied a dear to the fence and just left it there when the head leaders found out they where bing crule to the animal they got punished but when they harmed a prisoner they did nothing..

After another painful death march with Another rival moon-face the arrive at dachau one morning he woke up and the man next to him had a sickness "Camp Fever" it started with a headache and then a fever and the capos and the ss officers where not going anything about it three days later he got a rash and ended up coughphing up blood and he passed thought the night.some days they did not have any role call because the Americans where getting closer one day they did not get woken up soon they all woke up and the ss garurd where not there later on the Americans showed up and saved them all form the camp....

They where finaly recued by the Americans and taken to a nice place they got beds all to them self and he did not believe it he asked the gard how many people he had to bunk with and he said no one next to his bed there was a little table that had tooth brush a cup and a cloth and then it was tim to eat they had nice food the same food as the solders the same table as a solder a actually spoon and a fork later on he was outside and he saw a famiar face a person in krackout Poland his nagbor that lived across the hall from him and then she told him that he still had family alive he went to visit them they told him to go to America and he went a couple months later but ended up getting drafted to fight in the Korean war when he was done with the war he finally went to America to live the life he deserved.
