My name is Aisha, I am Oromo and I grew up in Portland, Oregon it’s one of favorite places I try to go back every summer. I really enjoy reading, watching movies and formula 1. I love my family and I am pretty close with them. I have 4 siblings all older than me which means I don’t see them much but when were all together its so special to me. I also love my friends, I’m a pretty friendly person so I love making new friends but I always appreciate the ones that have been there for me forever. Overall I’m pretty excited for this school year its my first year here at SLP but I’m really happy with all my classes and kind of excited for the challenge.

One thing going well in my life at the moment is that I’m getting a lot better at being grateful despite whatever is going on. It’s so easy for me to focus on the negatives and I usually do but lately I find myself still able to think about how grateful I am to even be where I am. Starting school has been kinda stressful especially at a new school but so its been important for me to focus on some kind of positive. Its also helpful because it keeps me motivated and refocuses me. One of my main goals this year is staying consistent not letting myself get behind so having a positive mindset like this will hopefully help me get there.

This summer really was pretty boring for me. I usually will go back to Portland for the summer but this summer we were moving so I had to stay. Moving was a little stressful and a big change but a good change. I did go see despicable me 4 and inside out 2 with my friends which was super fun. I also spent my birthday with my friends again and that was definitely the highlights of my summer.

Guts by Olivia Rodrigo is my favorite album because I feel like I can actually relate to each song. Not only that I just really like her music and although a lot of people like her first album this one is just a lot more special for me. I feel like a lot of her songs can be up to interpretation but her lyrics and songs are just always a hit for me. My music taste is kinda all over the place. I enjoy Olivia and Taylor swift also Noah Kahn, J.Cole, Brent faiyez, cage the elephant etc, but musics always been a big part of my life

I think English and literature are one of my strengths. I’ve been reading since I was really young and I love it but I still think this class will be really challenging for me. My goals in this class are to get better at writing and to hopefully be able to think more critically and show that in my writing. I think my writing needs a little more improvement so I’m excited to see my progress by the end of the school year. I’m willing to work hard but I know to reach my goals I’ll need consistency and motivation
