This image shows Vietnamese villagers that are being detained by the US Army. They were being held at gunpoint because the Army soldiers had reason to believe that they were communists. Obviously, this image is intended to ignite outrage on behalf of the Vietnamese. This would cause outrage because this was most likely how North Vietnamese people were treated during the time of war. With the US troops always being on the look out for any suspicious activity, there had to be occasions where North Vietnamese civilians were detained against their will.

This image shows Vietnam War protesters who were depicting their views on the US involvement in the war. This image is an example of the outrage that public felt in response to the war. This image is not necessarily intended to ignite outrage among the public, rather to show the public's reaction to the war. Demonstrations like this were very common during the Vietnam War era. Many citizens expressing their first amendment rights gathered to show their disdain with the war.

This image was taken at the height of the Vietnam War. This appears to be an action shot of a US solder about to kick a suspected Viet Cong soldier. In this picture, the North Vietnamese soldier was being held down to the ground while he was being beaten by American forces. Images like this were taken to ignite outrage both in the American public as well as North Vietnamese civilians. Pictures like this were taken with the hope that public would see the images, then in turn create enough public outrage that the politicians would see it and end the war.

The image below shows what could arguably be called the most infamous picture of the Vietnam war. This image was taken shortly after a Napalm run that was accidentally dropped on a civilian village. This image was taken with the primary reason of showing the public the atrocities of the war. The photographer, Nick Ut, said that he hoped that it would be the image that ended the war, and depending on who you ask, many people would agree that this image did just that.

This image depicts a group of students in Boston who are protesting the US's involvement
in the Vietnam war. This image is intended to ignite outrage against the war. It is well known that there was a portion of the US population that did not feel that the US should be involved in Vietnam, these students share that opinion and exemplifies the tear that America was experiencing among its people.

This image shows a popular recruiting poster that was used during the Vietnam era draft. On the poster, it shows a soldier asking the American public to remember all the events of World War II. This poster is obviously intended to create support for the war. It is feeding off the feeling of "American Pride" and asking those who appreciate America to volunteer for the military.

This image was taken by a photographer on the ground at the Vietnam War. This image was taken to show the public back in America some of the atrocities that their brothers had to experience. This picture was taken shortly after a firefight south of the DMZ in Vietnam. The photographer that took this photo died along with 3 other members of the press. Images like this were really able to convey what these soldiers had to experience. While this made many people want to support their brothers, it also make them outraged at the war.

This image was taken by one of the other members of the press who was killed (Image #7). This is a ground shot of a helicopter taking the body of a recently killed American paratrooper away to be shipped back home. It is important to see that it was very hard to support the war. Wars should not be supported. However, pictures like this should make the public feel supportive of the men overseas. This picture was taken to show some of the atrocities of war and for people to support the American troops in Vietnam.

This is a very iconic image. While this may just look like an ordinary deceased American soldier, this is actually a picture of the first American female military corespondent killed in action. This image was taken shortly after this soldiers crew stepped on a mine. The woman was picked up by medics and then died en route to the medic tent. Up until this point, very few women were actually a member of the ground troops. This picture showed those in America that now not only did the men need their support, but also all the women in Vietnam as well.

The final image shows the epitome of what the term "brothers in arms" exemplifies. This picture was taken after a recent gunfight around the area of Hue. The gunfight resulted in many injuries and each member of the unit had to help the other to make it out alive. Again, this image shows the atrocities that the soldiers faced everyday. These images were to show the public that the troops were going through many rough things and that their support was necessary to the troops success.
