I made this edit by fixing my concluding graf. My original graf was, The nation can learn from Brophy. Democrats and Republicans can get along if they are open-minded and willing to listen to each other. However, I fixed it to In a nation divided by political beliefs, students at Brophy College Preparatory offer a redefining example of collaboration and unity. additionally, The rest of my edits included adding paragraphs to better structure my article. Additionally, I changed "Says Cavello" to, "Said Cavello"

In writing my article, I interviewed Mason Cavello and Matthew Polacheck to gain insight into the relationships between the young Democrats and Republicans. After receiving their responses, I could use quotes to tie our school's political clubs to contrast them with the nation's politics. This allowed me to construct my article.

For my first article, I believe I did a good job. I organized my interviews within a day of each other, met in a quiet space, and received insightful, straightforward answers. However, I believed my interviews were too short and forced. I approached it as an interview versus a simple conversation. I think if I approached it as a conversation, the people I interviewed would feel more comfortable working with me, and it would increase the length of the interview. However, in writing my article, I am content. I made edits based on Mr. Kelly and Brody, and I wrote to the best of my ability.

When writing the article, I noticed I was biased toward the political side. I realized that this was detrimental in a hard news article. I then reworked my approach and wrote it in a way that captured news instead of turning it political. I believe this improved the article.

To prepare for my article, I received a pitch idea by Mr. Kelly, regarding the use of Narcan on campus. I then added it into this pitch. After this, I conducted interviews with Ms. Juana Arredondo in the deans office, as well as Mr. Heideman. Additonally, I spoke to Mr. White, and was allowed to borrow Narcan to take a photo for my article.

Throughout my article, I frequently mention Brophy as a person, saying, "Brophy has been carrying Narcan on Campus." I changed this to "The Dean’s Office at Brophy College Preparatory has maintained a stock of Narcan." I also removed unnecessary words, such as additionally, severe, and as a result. I had instances where I used "says, instead of "Said," so I changed this. A lot of the edits I made allowed the article to flow better, therefore improving the structure and flow of the article.

In presenting my article, I based it on the information I received from Ms. Jauana Arredondo, Mr. White, and Mr. Heideman. Arredondo and White gave me facts about Narcan at Brophy, such as where it is stored, how long it has been stored, and if it has ever been used. From interviewing Mr. Heideman, I learned his stand on Narcan being on campus and used his points in my article.

After writing my article, I believe I did a good job. I think I interviewed the right people for the story and received beneficial feedback and data for my article. When conducting my interviews, it felt much less forced, and It flowed a lot better. It felt as if I was having a simple conversation instead of almost interrogating them for information. When writing the article, I believe I did a good job in connecting the data of opioid overdoses and Narcan use to why it is stored in the Brophy Dean's office. However, I did make a lot of mistakes. I kept referencing Brophy as an actual person, using fragments such as "Brophy carries" or "Brophy wants". I used unnecessary transition words such as additionally. I also failed to back data up in my article, saying things without explanations or fact-checking to ensure the information was correct. In conclusion, I did a good job writing my article, but I have many items to consider when writing my following articles.

When writing this article, I had to fact-check items. When interviewing Ms. Juana Arredondo in the dean's office, I discovered that Narcan had been stored there for the past three years. Although she is a reliable source, I fact-checked this with Mr. White to confirm. Additionally, when conducting the interviews, I scheduled them promptly. I was absent for three days and did not have a pitch. However, after getting a pitch, I only had one day to conduct interviews before rough drafts were finished. So, I scheduled my interviews in the morning, at lunch, and after school instead of rushing them and getting short, unprofessional interviews.
