Shays rebellion was about rebelling against the taxing of farmers. It was lead by Daniel Shay because Daniel shay didn't think it was fair to tax the farmers just because the state was in dept because of wars. The farmers were suffering and angry. The Ordinance also included a bill of rights that guaranteed the rights of the people.  I've learned a lot about Shays Rebellion also. One thing that I've learned about Shays Rebellion is that Daniel Shays didn't think that it was fair that the states where taxing farmers heavily to pay off debts. Farmers who didn't pay the tax would loose their farms and be sent to jail. Shays convinced other farmers that something had to change during the summer of 1786. As long as the territory had a population of at least 60,000 people, they were allowed to apply for statehood. It allowed freedom of religion and trial by jury. It made sure that people could settle in Native territory without igniting any conflicts.
Shays' Rebellion was when farmers and the lower classs rebelled because they were being treated unfairly. If they couldn't pay their debts, they were arrested. But it's not their fault that the economy was bad! They tried being peaceful at first, but they were ignored.
