My name is Yerson. I am a Colombian biologist with experience in the execution and monitoring of restoration and conservation projects. Currently, I am finishing my M.Sc. in Landscape Ecology and Nature Conservation at the University of Greifswald. My master's thesis researches the influence of landscape configuration on the regeneration potential of the Tropical Dry Forest (TDF) in the Magdalena River Valley in Colombia.

My thesis is part of the biggest TDF restoration project in Colombia, and my findings will be useful as a nature-based approach for the restoration and management of this ecosystem at a landscape scale.

My name is Ezekiel Osifo Odiamehi, from Nigeria. I have undergraduate degree in Environmental Science and currently pursing MSc. degree in Marine Biology in Germany.  

I have worked as an Environmental Consultant for fours years providing strategic environmental sustainability expert guidance  to clients across manufacturing, energy, construction sectors. 

My interest in urban green space was sparked in 2021, when I was selected as one of the Local Pathway Fellows by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network to drive the implementation of UNSDG 11. As part for the Fellowship, I collaborated with local municipality in Delta State Nigeria to plant 5000 mangroves trees to combat climate change induced flooding.

I am passionate about promoting nature-based solutions to tackle climate change, air pollution, and urban flooding. I'm pleased to join the group! My name is Tikabo Gebreyesus from Germany, and I'm originally from Ethiopia. I am a PhD candidate in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Bonn, Germany, and my research focuses on exploring how urban green infrastructure (GI) can serve as nature-based solutions to enhance climate-resilient urban planning in Ethiopia. It specifically addresses GI as one of the innovative strategies to enhance climate-smart urban planning practices that can withstand the impacts of a changing climate.

My academic journey started at Hawassa University, Ethiopia, where I earned my MSc in Urban Greening and spent years as a lecturer and consultant in sustainable urban development.

My name is Abdi Debel, and I come from the country of Ethiopia. Currently, I reside in Frankfurt, Germany. My journey has been quite enriching, as I had the opportunity to complete my master’s degree at the esteemed University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany.

Following my academic pursuits, I had the privilege of working with GIZ, where I was deeply involved in various impactful projects. My professional background is rooted in Agricultural Economics, a field I am incredibly passionate about. This passion drives my current endeavours in the start-up world, where I am developing innovative solutions in the future food sector. Our goal is to address the pressing issues of omega-3 and protein shortages in different parts of the globe.

I am particularly interested in this Urban Solutions Course because the topics it covers are becoming increasingly crucial in today's world. My name is Kalina Fonseca. I am originally from Ecuador, but now I live in Giessen, Germany, where I am pursuing my PhD in water resource management with an emphasis on nature-based solutions.

Since 2016, I have been working with local Andean communities facing water pollution affecting irrigation and drinking water. Due to a lack of financial resources, these communities cannot access conventional water treatment methods. In this context, I have been working on implementing nature-based solutions as cost-effective alternatives to improve water quality and ensure water security for both present and future generations.
