It was a victory during the Cold War because there was a lot of cooperation during this event. Daily supplies being sent over ran significantly over Berlin's maintenance level. Eventually, Soviets got the message and the people of West Berlin survive. It was necessary in order to aid the German citizens from the extremely cold conditions and starving from the Berlin Blockade.
