Being educated about healthier food choices <br>2. Healthy food options to be more accessible <br>3. Healthier options in school canteens <br><strong>- For each outcome write how you would achieve this and what steps you could take to achieve this. </strong><br>1. Have professionals (e.g. nutritionist) to talk with the community, have community vege gardens, have a Maori health promoter that visits the community weekly.&nbsp;<br>2. Reduce prices of healthy foods, ads to be more consistant.&nbsp;<br>3. Minimizing junk food in canteens by allowing students to cook their own food for the canteen.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>3. HEALTH INEQUITIES FOR MAORI IN AOTEAROA </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>1. Define Maori health inequities.<br>2. Identify health inequities for Maori and state the root cause. <br>3. Make a bullet pointed list of what impacts the above inequalities have on Maori health and how they can be addressed. <br>1. </strong>  Health inequities are differences in health status between population groups that are socially produced, systematic in their unequal distribution across the population, avoidable and unfair. <strong><br>2.</strong> Maori health inequities can vary from discrimination which is where Maori are treated differently than non-Maori. <br>Financially- Maori people have to supply for family and extended family which makes them use up their money. <br>3.Discrimination.<br>- educating staff about discrimination.<br>-Respond to complaints in a confidential matter.<br>- Have a policy that prohibits discrimination.<br>Financial.<br>- WINZ understanding that Maori supply for the whole family. WINZ supporting the Maori people.<br>- Salvation Army and other charity groups to supply free food grants for the Maori people.<br> <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>- Define tikanga and kawa practices. <br>- Give a summary of Maori History. <br>- Define culturally safe values, principles, processes and protocols. <br>- Identify what initiatives are currently out there for Maori in terms of health. </strong><br>1. Tikanga are cultural practices or protocols excerised which is used by the Maori population. eg: karakia.<br> Kawa is practices and protocols exercised but it is specific to an iwi, hapu, whanau or area.<br>3.The head is sacred for the Maori people. In a Marae, you are not able to put your legs out or else you would get wacked the Kaumatua.<br>4. Healthy Families NZ- Address obesity by creating healthy changes in the community.<br>Kiwisport- provide more sport opportunities for young people in communities where participation rates are low and the risk of poor health is higher. </div>]]></description>
