The western cordillera covers the western side of Canada including all of British Columbia and all of Yukon with parts of Alberta and the northwest territories. Was formed around 170 million to 40 Million years ago. This land form is a system of mountain ranges that extends into the united states into Alaska and all the way down to Mexico.

The western cordillera was formed when lithospheric plates converged with North America at a quick rate of 4 inches per year. The Juan de Fuca Plate is the only remaining plate as the other ones have been subducted beneath the surface.

The climate in this landform region is very diverse as I said in the last padlet. It ranges from mild temperatures with wet coastal areas to colder, drier inland regions with lots of snowfall.
