Our next task on analysing news papers and magazines in unit 3 was to word count and compare two chosen newspapers; which for me was the mirror and the guardian. After highlighting 20 different sentences in both papers, and then counting up the words in each sentence. I then added both sets of numbers up and vivddivd them both by 20 to find an average. As expected, the guardian has a higher average of words in a sentence at 35.5 then the mirror, at 19.65. This tells us that the guardian, in comparison to the mirror is for a different audience and includes more general information.
