This book is a timeless treasure; published in 1988, the Wongs wrote this about educational expectations.
"Positive expectations, sometimes called high expectations, should not be confused with high standards.  Having positive expectations simply means that the teacher believes in the learner and that the learner can learn.
The belief in positive expectations is based on the research that whatever the teacher expects from the learner is what the learner will produce."
