I learned that if you give someone the space to make art especially if they wouldn't have the space otherwise then they will surprise you. Working with our participants has broadened my views on humanity and has given me the privilege to meet some of the strongest people I have ever met. While I sometimes lose hope and get overwhelmed here on the outside the people I have met inside has shown me an audacity to hope despite the many obstacles in their path and it makes you want to help them reach their goals. It showed me hope is not always easy but it is worth it, for as long as you are alive you are still in the game and can not give up on yourself. A couple of weeks ago, the professor offered to do Chinese fortune telling, and I said I wanted my fortune read. I read the result, and it said not to give up in the upcoming weeks because I would be ok. In the end, it was all true. 
I'm happy I didn't give up that class. And I'm proud of myself for sticking through.
The women I met there are wonderful people, and I wish them the best. And Mary Ponomis was one of the best professors I had, who gave us this one of the kind experience to us.
