Calm Determination

Having known the big guy his entire life, it is difficult to pick "a" memory. There is so much this guy has taught me over the years but I think his ability to succeed through calm determination is something that will continue to stick with me for a long, long time.

Growing up in an Italian household, our first experience in organized sports was, of course, soccer. We played for the Maroon Marauders (photo below from 1976) in the West Hartford Youth Soccer League and then went on to play for the White Tornadoes in the Senior Division, coached by Pat Donellan. During these early years (I think we were 9 and 8, respectively, at the beginning), we both learned the value of being good sports (sort of) and working . hard (sort of) for the benefit of the team. We also learned how much fun it was to break into a rugby match in the middle of soccer practice but that might be another story. It was also during these very early years that my little brother developed and grew into my bigger, stronger and more athletic brother, regardless of how hard I worked to fight back the inevitable. Lucio became a bit of a force on the field and went on to become co-captain for the Conard Soccer team. Along the way, he also picked up lacrosse that he would eventually play in college at WNEC and then into his post college years. Lets not forget the numerous marathons and "Reach the Beach" relays.

Throughout these accomplishments, as well as those unrelated to athletics such as career, drums, gardening, fatherhood and of course his relationship with Jane, Lucio always remained true to himself, not outwardly demonstrating his accomplishments but rather keeping that inner fire burning quietly. I think this is what I admire most about my brother. His quiet and calm approach to excellence. ure class in my book and something I continue to aspire to replicate.

-Vinnie

A Reminder to Always Be True

One of my favorite memories of Uncle Lucio was last October. I went to a football game with him, Sophie, and my dad. The Patriots (my team) were playing the Jets (his team). Since the game was at Gillette Stadium, we were swarmed by crazy Patriots fans that got so into the game that they would constantly stand up during field kicks and during other important moments. At one point, we were all standing, and so was everybody around us. You had to stand if you wanted to see the game because nobody was sitting down. Everybody was standing and cheering loudly. However, Uncle Lucio just sat there silently. Not rooting against the Patriots, but definitely not supporting them. One guy said to him, “Hey, you’re not going to stand?” Uncle Lucio just shook his head saying no. My dad said to the man, “He’s a Jets fan.” The man just smiled and nodded saying, “A loyal man, I respect that.” Even though Uncle Lucio couldn’t even see the game because he refused to stand, he was still showing his support for his team. He presented no negativity, however. He just picked his side and stuck to it, not worried about showing his discontent for the Patriots and standing out in a crowd of people standing as he sat.

This story has and always will speak loudly to me. It reminds me to never, ever follow the public if it doesn’t stay true to me. It reminds me to always stand up for what I believe in, even if they aren’t the beliefs of the majority. Having this memory in my head makes it much easier to continue to have different opinions respectfully, without badmouthing the opinions that are the opposite of mine. It reminds me to never be afraid of what makes me stand out in a crowd.

-Anna Lefante

A bit sketchy on the details but when I was still attending UNH, Lucio and a few of the boys from WNEC decided to make the rode trip to join us for a house party at our off campus place in Dover, NH. The party was well underway when I received a call from Lucio. I was wondering where the heck he was so glad that he was at least calling to perhaps check in. However, it was crazy loud in the house and I could not hear what he was trying to tell me so asked him to ring me later. He yelled into the phone that he could not call me later because this was the one and only call he was allowed to make. I am sure most of you can figure out why he was only allowed one phone call but rest assured, he and his crew were in no danger whatsoever.

I think this was in second grade for me. I wish there was a year written on the letter, but when I was still in elementary school we had to write a letter to someone. (The days pre-email...) I chose Lucio and he had to write back to me at school as part of the exercise. I have a memory of getting that letter in line to go to gym. Or maybe it was indoor recess. Somehow this letter has been saved in a box for all these years. I laugh reading it because of all the very familiar things, especially the part about dad sleeping. And of course lacrosse makes an appearance.

Francesca

I like to snowshoe in the winter, especially at night. A few years ago after a snow storm, we were planning on going up to Hueblin tower.

A few years ago Luch, Jane and the kids rented a house together with our parents and myself. It was up in New Hampshire and the house was right on a lake. It was great house and the lake access was a ton of fun. The house came with a couple canoes for our use. One night Luch and I thought it would be a brilliant idea to take one of the canoes out to the middle of the lake and maybe even so some fishing. Sam and Bella joined us in the canoe ride. After we were well in the middle of the lake, I felt something buzz my ear. Luch asked if I also felt that and he confirmed my suspicion that it was a bat. Bats were surrounding us and we had convince Sam and Bella to keep quiet so we could quickly row back to land without being swarmed by them.
It was both hilarious and a tad gross we both got out of the canoe shivering at the thought of all the bats surrounding us which we now could very clearly see flying above the lake. On the plus side, no mosquitos that week.

1) When we used to run together in the mornings when I lived down the hill. We would arrange to meet at 6 am. Lucio was always early and as I was running up the hill to meet him he would be strolling down the hill past our assigned meeting place. I would look up and see this large form in the dark (made even larger by the fact that he was up above me) . He always looked so serene and relaxed.

Lucio was a hell of a guy. The 4 years I spent with him, navigating the waters of college were outstanding. Playing lacrosse, going to parties, going to class, doing whatever was all made a great bit more enjoyable with him around. Whether it was road trips to visit friends or just hanging out watching Cheers, this big Italian never disappointed. I was honored to be part of their wedding and was so happy not to have fainted during the ceremony from going at it a little too hard the night before. A few years after I enjoyed a couple of Reach the Beach relays covering 200 miles in 24 hours. These are just a few of the many, many memories I have with Lucio. A genuine and great guy; this world was a much better place because he was a part of it. Rest in peace.

Thankfully we were in college long before the days where there is a picture or video of everything; but it made it a little harder to come up with some photos of those days. Here is one I could locate.

Chris Heline

Tough as nails and a sly sense of humor Running the 220 mile Reach the Beach Relay race is more about grit than athleticism (and getting out of the car when it’s your turn to run!). I would never have imagined doing this crazy race without Lucio quietly convincing me - “it’s no big deal… we’ll give you short distances to run,” which was how he encouraged and goaded me at the same time. I have an exemplary memory of his toughness from my first RTB. At around 2am we are on the darkest country road in New Hampshire when the steady rain becomes an absolute downpour & thunderstorm. Luc is running in the darkness ahead. We pull along side him so that I can lean out the window to suggest he get in and we wait for awhile. He says something like “nah, I only have a little more to go…” as his face is pelted by rain. He drops his head, sets his jaw and speeds up. I notice that he’s smirking as he begins to churn, throwing his body into the steep uphill section ahead. He was clearly enjoying himself in this miserable and wonderful challenge. Funny: not “LOL,” flash in the pan funny, but slow cooker, barbecue kinda funny. I apologize in advance if this offends - - turn down your radio, avert your eyes - - but I really enjoy thinking about this particular memory. Not long after Lucio and Jane moved to Westmont we attended the same Halloween party; the kind with costumes. Jane was a cat. A solid and acceptable showing for an adult at a Halloween party. She came to our house prior to the party for help with her makeup. I asked about Luc’s costume and she said he was still “working it out.” We arrived at the same time. He was standing in a robe wearing slippers holding a piece of lumber - - and grinning hard, a closed mouth smile. His smile. I was confused, I didn’t get it. “So, what are you?” “You don’t get it? I’m morning wood!” He was so proud. I think of that every Halloween and it makes me laugh every time. He is the embodiment of humility, competence, goodness, humor, family. While I miss him, I will always consider him an important bellwether in my life. Take care Luc, Love Steve K

My husband is as loyal as they come, he has friends from kindergarten that he still keeps in touch with. To say that friendships are the anchor in his life is an understatement. As adults it becomes more difficult to find others that we let into our lives and our hearts with the same sense of committment, steadfastness, and transparency. Lucio was one of those people for my husband, he admired his steady attitude, dedication to family and dry and innapropriate sense of humor when needed. He let Lucio in. A true testament to the genuine and authentic person that Luc is, and will remain as such in the hearts of all of those who love him. Sometimes friendships are formed when we least expect them, they find a way into our hearts and we realize that we may have learned a lot in kindergarten but there is always time for letting someone in, especially a guy like Lucio.

Lucio was a big part of my childhood growing up in the close-knit Italian Family. A Saturday night would never be complete without a visit to Nona’s house where we all would gather. Lucio, Vinnie and I were the older boy cousins surrounded by a bunch of girls. Of course, we would get into antics playing hide and go seek in the dark, building forts in the basement, lest we forget the “toughness wrestling tests” in Nona’s basement. Chaos would always ensue in that basement until Nona showed up with freshly made popcorn. We had a lot of fun and built some memories.

It’s memories like these that I cherish…back when life was simple….we did not need an iPad, Xbox, etc. to have fun… We made our own fun, though we did “occasionally” get into trouble. I can recall spending a few weeks in the Summer at Lucio and Vinnie’s house. We would go bike riding. We'd ride in not the safest of places….divided highways, highways, trails in the woods, etc.…..of course “helmets” were not really used then (lol, "Safety First"). We decided to go to Sears in Corbins Corner because we were "BIG SHOTS". After locking the bikes up, we went into the store to look at electronics. Of course, Lucio got on the down escalator and walked up against the traffic and we also messed with the elevator too (or as Lucio used to call it: “AL-I-VATOR”. Imagine our surprise when we left the store to find that Lucio’s bike and his Dad’s (Gaetano) bike (the one I was borrowing) were stolen. Vinnie’s bike was intact. While it was a short walk back to 16 Grissom Drive, it seemed endless. WE WERE SCREWED!! Lucio kept saying, we are so in trouble and I bet my bike is at a chop shop being painted as we speak. We got home and Leonilde (Lucio and Vinnie’s Mom) was none too happy. But, as we know, Lucio was always a jokester with a knack at making his Mom laugh at a moment’s notice. I don’t recall exactly what Lucio said to his Mom, but she yelled out Luuuuuuuuuucioooooooo and broke down laughing. Great ice breaker Lucio!!! Sure protected us from an impending beating….LOL…. They never recovered those bikes and we did not really get into trouble. Lucio….thank you so much for the memories man! Until we meet again.

John D'Amato

He saw everyone as human and didn't discourage against mistakes. Ever since, I havent't seen a better coach or person. I'll miss you, coach.

What an amazing, funny, sweet, and caring man! I am really not sure when I first met Lucio but we certainly did not know each other well before I was lured into the Reach the Beach in 2011. There is something about 2 days in a car with someone (interrupted by middle of the night running and pit stops) that you quickly get a sense of who they are.

His sense of humor, positive outlook, love of his family, and decency were readily apparent. I knew then that this was somebody that I wanted to stay connected with (but not if I had to ever get in that smelly SUV again!). He was always game for a run or a bike ride that would pass quickly with lots of laughing. He would readily lend a hand and volunteered his whole family one time for Rebuilding Together. We got a great laugh at Jane’s expense when we had to suit her up in hazmat gear for some poison ivy removal.

I also fondly remember the time he and Bella pitched in to put up Christmas decorations a woman’s house in the North End of Hartford in anticipation of her husband’s return from rehab. Lucio could talk to anyone with such ease.

But it was after that first seizure that I think we both grew closer. I can still remember his gritty determination as his diagnosis and prognosis unfolded. There was not an ounce of self-pity or despair but instead he had courage in the face of great uncertainty and only worry for his family not himself. It was also amazing to see how connected he was to the West Hartford community. It was never hard to find a group of guys willing to go to WOB on a Friday. Lucio was constantly introducing me to another friend that I had not met yet. He was a man who made his mark on so people.

I am so glad to have been able to call him my friend and will miss him.

Howard Oakes

Tag Sale at Nonna's

Lucio is my cousin and in childhood we saw all our cousins practically every week at the same meeting place - Nonna’s house. One summer while most of us were in our early teens, we decided to do a little business project – a tag sale - and Nonna had the perfect high-traffic location on Main Street, Newington.

First thing in the morning, sales were pretty steady with customers pulling up and parking their cars to browse our diverse inventory - we were doing pretty well, hustling a collection of knick-knacks, toys and other household items the whole family donated on our behalf. As the day progressed, customer traffic declined and we found that cars were no longer pulling up and parking. Instead they would slow down, stare at the items for sale, then speed back up and drive away. We were a little annoyed. Of course, leave it to Luch to keep it light. As we were sitting there contemplating sales tactics, Luch, takes giant steps only he could make directly into the middle of Main Street [what was he doing?], with outstretched arms in front of him, he grasps an invisible steering wheel, looking straight ahead while ‘driving’ his invisible car, then as he lets up on the gas and taps the brake, suddenly turns his head to stare at us with eyes wide open and a huge teethy grin. He does this long enough to have us all roaring with laughter then urging him to ‘get out of the road!’ as he dashes back to the curb.

I feel privileged to have made memories in our younger years with Luch: Always fun, witty, easy-going, thoughtful, brave and kind. I feel grateful to have been included in a tiny fraction of his many adventures. Although I missed time with him as we each raised our families, I know what a wonderful, kind and strong father and husband he became and the legacy and inspiration he has left for his children. Good-bye for now Lucio, I will always remember you fondly - until we meet again.
Monica D'Amato Tarasek

Being a German from Minneapolis I knew no Italians growing up. Never did I think I'd know a man named Lucio! And a handsome one at that! I met Jane first, at the local library sing alongs (imagine!) with our young kids. Bella was about 2, Sam an infant. This was when Luc and Jane lived in New Jersey. Jane brought my family into hers and we became a part of the Hiland Drive crew. I remember Jane always had a lot of great ideas and projects for Luc and he would consistently smile, make a joke or two, and find a way to do whatever the project was with his own hands. We celebrated many kid's birthday parties together and enjoyed many backyard bbq's. Here is one memory I smile about now because of its simplicity and sign of the times. On various Friday nights a few families from the crew would meet at the local mall to listen to Mr. Ray sing to the kids about Roy. G.Biv and When I Grow Up. Our dinner would be the food court. Luc and the other dads came dressed in their suits, right from work. Now that's a date night! I don't think my husband has eaten at a food court since, LOL. Luc will be remembered for his gentle demeanor, his great smile and his ability to draw people in. Everybody loved Lucio, how could you not? We visited Luc, Jane and the kids at their Pinebrook home, my kids still remember being able to jump on the beds, reading together and the love of the Lefante family. In April of 2015, Lex, my oldest daughter and I visited Luc and Jane while on a prospective student day at UConn. As we left, after dinner, Lex commented to me how welcomed she felt, after all those years. THAT is Luc and Jane. Luc, your spirit will shine brightly in so many you have touched.
Val McAlister

Tess Cagenello - Hi Mrs. Lefante, I worked and did swim team with Bella for years. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband and Bella's Dad. I reached out to Bella, but I wanted to tell you personally how sorry I am. I remember seeing Mr. Lefante around the pool and Bella always lighting up when he was around. Sadly, I never personally spoke to him, but to have a daughter who is as hard of a worker and as kind as Bella he must have been a fantastic man. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I wish you all the best and I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss.

Tom was just telling me the story of how Luc and him took Bella and Kaitlyn to their first swim lesson in Princeton and they forgot to take their diapers off that you and I put over their swim diapers for the car ride. I guess the men and the girls hit the water and suddenly their diapers starting expanding. I can just picture it now. Hugs and all our love to all of you. Susan

I had Coach Lefante as a lacrosse coach in 7th and 8th grade. Coming to practice always put a smile on my face because of the enthusiasm and energy he brought to the team. I remember that he was always willing to go the extra step for the people around him. For example, he volunteered his time to coach a fall lacrosse team. Looking back no matter how much fooling around there was on the field, he never raised his voice and always had a positive way of turning the situation around. The example he set as a person still resonates with me today. I will carry his lessons with me on and off the field. My thoughts are with all of you.
-Brennan Mitchell

Dearest Luche, Janie, Belly, Sam Man, Sophie Lou and Critter Lover,
As I reflect on what and if I should share on your beautiful site, I realize that the connections we shared with Lucio are so many that they need to be honored. The fact that we grew up in the same town, had common friends, teachers, coaches, and went to a lot of the same parties was a great start, but watching our children develop a friendship, going to concerts, shows, birthday parties, VBS, and school events were the solidifying force that connected us the strongest. Also, the fact that your wife Luche, has become one of my closest friends has tied us together more than any start we may have had in our early years. You all kept our family close as I fought my own battle and your positive and never failing presence gave us all the strength to get through the most difficult time for our family. You have shown us true friendship. I have always felt that at every occasion we shared as couples in our play group "group" - every person present, no matter what the reason, ever took our time together for granted. We truly enjoyed each other - not just because our children were friends, or the wives were friends - but because we all genuinely appreciated each other and realized how lucky we are to share such a special connection. To get to the point of my story title - my memory I choose to cherish will always be one of the impromptu gatherings at your house. Jane called to let me know that there was still mint in the garden and we should not waste it. It called for a mojito night. This was right before you got sick Luche, and you in your larger than life self were so happy muddling up the mint, mixing up the drinks, laughing and being the most generous host. I went out into my garden this afternoon after your funeral, and I see the mint that is still going strong. The garden has been turned over for the season, but that mint remains. I can't bring myself to pull it out. Mint finds a way to spread and endure in a garden - mixing in with the other veggies and my basil. This is how you have been in our life Lucio... you found ways to be in our lives in various ways and times. We will continue to not take our group time together for granted. You will always be in our hearts and minds lingering, binding and holding us together, spilling our experiences into each other throughout the changing seasons in our lives. Just like the mint will remain in our garden every year, your memory will be going strong as well.
We love you all . Sarah, Jim, Cassie and Jay Falvey

Lucio and I became friends at Aetna about 20 years ago. Not too long after I met him, Aetna brought in a motivational speaker to speak to its employees. Lucio and I decided to attend the presentation in the Aetna auditorium to get away from accounting for an hour. The speaker started out asking the audience, “How is everyone doing?” The audience’s response was pretty reserved. The speaker then asked the audience to ask him how he was doing. We did; and, with a huge grin on his face, the speaker replied “FANTASTIC!!!”. Throughout his presentation, which was very entertaining, he would check back in with the audience. “How are you doing?” The audience caught on fast. “Fantastic!!!” I was charged up for a couple hours after speech, but I am pretty sure that by the time I got home I had already come down. The next morning, I went over to Lucio’s desk to make our regular run to the coffee truck. It was early and I was probably in slow motion because I hadn’t had my coffee. I said to Lucio, “How are you?” He answered, “FANTASTIC!!!” smiling from ear to ear. I had the feeling he had been waiting to say this to me all morning. I couldn’t stop laughing. From that day until he left Aetna to take a job at AM Best in NJ, I honestly don’t think he missed the opportunity to say “Fantastic” when I asked him how he was doing. It got to the point where I would try to catch him replying with a simple “Good” or “Ok” and I don’t think I ever did. Lucio was a FANTASTIC person. Among his many great qualities, he had a way of making people laugh. I will miss him dearly and will never forget him.

Dan Chen

We were so excited eighteen years ago when Jane, Luc and cute Bella moved 2 doors down from us at Hiland Drive. I still remember the day we met them. Bella and Kaitlyn immediately gravitated to each other and still have kept that friendship alive so many years later. Jane was pregnant with Sam, Luc was excited about his new house and job. Before long, Sam and Michael would be buddies as well. We all got to quickly love their dog George- the best dog ever. Truly just an example of how wonderful Jane and Luc were to raise a dog that could only be described as perfect. But the best part was the friendships Tom and I formed with Jane and Luc. We were young parents navigating the early years of parenting together and had so much fun doing just that. And we were all so happy when Sophie joined the Hiland Drive crew a few years later. (And we got to meet Tessa a few years after then they returned to visit).

We planned Easter Egg Hunts together, New Year’s celebrations, but most of all we just loved hanging out together. Lucio was a family man. He clearly adored Jane and his three “ Hiland Drive” children and would do anything for them. He loved having his CT relatives come visit and we got to know many of them. You could see how much they all loved him. But he was also about having a great time with his friends too.

There were lots of things over the years that made us laugh. Tom remembers the time when Jane and I signed up Bella and Kaitlyn for their first swim lessons. As good mothers, we sent the girls off with their eager dads. The girls dressed in swim diapers (with diapers over them in case any accidents on the drive to Princeton occurred) were with their capable dads who had clear instructions to remove the diapers right before the lessons started. And as the good listeners the men were, their excitement to teach the girls how to swim overcame them and they immersed the girls into the water to start their first lesson. But quickly, they realized their mistake and the girls suits expanded as their diapers started to absorb the Y water. They laughed about it for days.

But our funniest memory was the day Luc decided to lay concrete around the pool. Tom recalls the day like this: “It was a beautiful morning. I headed over to the Lefantes to help with the event. The concrete truck came, Luc was eager to start the work, his dad was there to supervise. Luc originally thought he would have to get 2 loads of concrete, but it was going so well with the first block that we poured, that he decided we would get it all done with the first truck. (It would save quite a bit of money, as Luc pointed out). Jane in her typical fashion was going to make it a learning/memory making event. The kids were going to write their names and put their handprints into the concrete. Everything was going perfect. But the truck driver was eager to leave, and the sun began to beam down on Hiland Drive. So we started filling blocks and wheel barrows faster than we could spread the concrete and smooth it out. Hoses started flowing, trying to keep the concrete from hardening. Add to that, one of the kids then walked onto the one block that was finished.

Jane went from bystander to participant when the pool cover started falling in, jumping in to the “dirty, cold water” to keep it from ripping. Luc went from wanting to make sure the concrete wasn’t too smooth (he didn’t want it to be too slippery around the pool - always thinking of the kid’s safety) to worrying about it being too jagged that the kids would cut their feet. Unfortunately the latter prevailed. And his dad, just stood and shook his head.
And then the wheelbarrows that we were staging started hardening. I think there is still a block of concrete shaped like a wheelbarrow somewhere in the 9 Hiland Drive backyard. The kids handprints are still there, but they are now covered with the pavers since the concrete was “too sharp” to walk on. To Luc’s credit, the new neighbors wanted to remove the concrete, but the contractor said it was such a “solid concrete job” that the pool would cave in if they tried to jackhammer it out. To this day, I recall the day with laughter but continue to deny any involvement in the project to my neighbors.”

We were so sad the day Luc and Jane told us they were moving back to Connecticut, but we knew how excited they were to be going back to their families. And we knew we would always have them as our friends, no matter how much distance was between us. My children all have fond memories of visiting the Lefantes in Connecticut and their times visiting us.

I will never forget, the night we threw them a going away party. And something Tom said that still resonates with me since it pretty much describes Luc. As we raised our glasses for a toast (of Jägermeister of course) Tom stated say how we were all going to miss him and then he stopped and said, “Wait a minute, we aren’t going to miss you Luc. You make all the men in the neighborhood look bad.” And that was because Luc was the perfect family man and neighbor - always there for Jane and the kids and also always there for all of us on our street. Whether it was to lend a hand or raise a glass or organize a poker game after the kids were asleep. He was the perfect friend and neighbor. And we missed them terribly when they moved.

Luc – you will always live in our hearts and our memories. And we will never forget the warmth of your smile. Rest in peace our dear friend.

Tom, Susan, Kaitlyn, Michael, Kelly and Patrick Irwin

From: John Hollerbach RE: Tribute to Lucio Ronni,Lucio was an all-star lacrosse player for Western New England College. And a lifetime player. He played his last game in the fall of 2014 but continued to support the game through his remaining hours. While living with cancer he remained extremely active enjoying all of the “families activities” concerts, swim meets, shopping, movies & watching Conard Lacrosse.Lucio was very involved in West Hartford Youth Lacrosse. He lobbied the board for years to replace the old style football uniforms to more contemporary lacrosse jerseys. When the first big screen movie was made about the game of lacrosse (Crooked Arrows) he offered to take his team and any other youth player that wanted to go. He had a great understanding for the roots of the sport and enjoyed the story centered around the Native American team.He will be deeply missed.CREATING A BETTER WORLD OF RECREATIONJohn W.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Lucio and his family during this time. It was sad to hear of his passing and know he will be truly missed by so many. I was fortunate to know and have worked with Lucio at Hanover Insurance and thought very highly of him both personally and professionally. He was very intelligent and respectful in an old and honorable way, always asking about how my family was doing before getting to business. God bless. John Kneeland

It is true that cousins are the very first friends in your life. I feel privileged to have spent some memorable days and hours in our younger years with you, Lucio. You always were fun, witty, easy-going, thoughtful and tender-hearted; and I feel grateful to have been included in a tiny fraction of your many adventures. Although I missed time with you as we each raised our families, I know what a wonderful, kind and strong father and husband you became and the legacy you have left for your wonderful kids. My memory goes back about 10 years ago to receiving a random call from you - quite out of nowhere. When you called, I asked what was going on (thinking there had to be some significant news) and you told me that you were starting a new thing - just calling cousins to catch up. I don't recall the details of our conversation, but I will never forget that call. Lefante family- my heart goes out to each of you as you mourn Lucio's / your Dad's passing and celebrate his life. I pray that you will find God's comfort as you carry on in your life's journey.Monica and Steve Tarasek

Hi Jane, Courtney shared with me your challenging weekend; hope things are stable for now and no one is injured. It was almost eight years ago when you and Luc invited me to my first traditional Thanksgiving; I still remembered the surprise of finding my name in my plate. Thanks once again for opening your family to me, it has meant a lot and as I always said, I learned and continue to do from you and your family, the unity, the strength ... openness to be who you are. Last Saturday a bunch of guys from the MBA got together to cheers for Luc; a lot of people were shocked by the news. We talked about how cool, sarcastic, respectful he was, as well as responsible and good friend. I was happily surprised that we were close to 15 (the biggest number of people we have gotten together since we graduated); even a couple people came out of state. At one point, Raj (as he has always been), raised his glass and just shouted: “For Luc !!!!”. And everybody followed him. I wanted to share with you how we miss and remember our friend. I wish you this holiday weekend you and your family keep the strength and find the sparkle to continue who you are as family, and you are all together to keep walking in this time, A big huge and a kiss CarlosPS ...
