What's the Problem

Deforestation is the main problem here. And has severe consequences. The Amazon is the largest rainforest in the world but only covers 6% of the world's landmass. And it is home to over 50% of the world's plant and animal population. It helps to regulate earth's temperature and initially helps to stop Global Warming. Rainforests even absorb large amounts of Carbon Dioxide to! And the rainforest is as big as the U.S.

Consequences:

Deforestation has many severe consequences. For one it adds to global warming. When some of the forest is lost then it can't take in as much carbon dioxide causing it to add to G.W (global warming). And when people burn some forest to make a clearing, it not only hurts the forest and all of its species, but further releases Carbon Dioxide into the air. And when the forest is cleared millions of different species lose their homes and go extinct before we can even find them. The Amazon is the only home many species have. Some plants, animals, insects and even fish have to stay in the Amazon. And if their home is destroyed so are they. Some plants in the Amazon are used in medicines that help to save lives. So we can't keep destroying the Rainforest. Because it not only destroys Earth, Plants, Animals, Fish, Birds and Insects. It destroys us to.

How to Solve This:

It is very hard to stop deforestation considering that most of it is illegal. And with the Amazon being over 1,600,000 square miles, it's hard to watch all of it. Although some land is lost by farmers clearing small plots of land and some large scale removals are permitted most of the damage is illegal. So maybe we could use drones to watch over the land and cut down on some of the illegal clearing. And another contributor to deforestation is mining. If we could switch to renewable energy we wouldn't have to mine up coal and destroy the forest. So if you see anything suspicious, speak out!
