There were several components that I loved about chemistry, the first thing I loved the most was experimenting. To experiment we would get into groups (labs) and was about to mix chemicals together to get a reaction. If the chemicals were not balanced then the reaction would tell you what went wrong. I like to know where my mistake was so I would try harder to fix it.

We had never experimented or worked on projects. In 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade it was consistent bookwork. The teacher would find a worksheet for us to do and that was that. there was no deeping our understand or expanding the content.

observation - observing

Often observation involves a conscious or unconscious linking to something that we already know, which brings us to an interesting point on how our experiences impact what we deem significant or not. Our experiences filter what we see.

When we are a novice at something, all observations are unexpected and worthy of our attention but as we learn more about a field we become more discerning about that which we consider important and noteworthy. The same holds true in life. It is important to realize that observation is much more than merely seeing something; it also involves a mental process. Two types of observation a spontaneous or passive observations which are unexpected; and induced or active observations which are deliberately sought, usually on account of an hypothesis. I like a spontaneous observation involves firstly noticing some object or event. The thing noticed will only become significant if we either consciously or unconsciously relates it to some relevant knowledge or past experience.

Scientific experimentation helps to determine the nature of the relationship between independent and dependent variables . For example, when testing a new medicine, voluntary people are found and assigned randomly to an experimental and to a control group. One group will receive the new medicine and one group will receive a placebo. The effects on both groups are studied and conclusions are drawn.

Experimenting was always my most favorite thing to do as it is for most kids. It allows me to be hands on and see the science form right in front of me.

You engage in scientific thinking every day and may not even realize it. The experience of deducing that your car won’t start because of a bad fuel pump, or of figuring out that the centipedes in your backyard prefer shady rocks shares fundamental similarities with classically scientific discoveries like working out DNA’s double helix. These activities all involve making observations and analyzing evidence — and they all provide the satisfaction of finding an answer that makes sense of all the facts. In fact, some psychologists argue that the way individual humans learn (especially as children) bears a lot of similarity to the progress of science: both children and scientists make observations, consider evidence, test ideas, and hold on to the ideas that work.

Humans are very curious people and we want to know everything about everything. People can get religious about why people are so curious but I think it comes down more to our ancestors and where we lived. People are not the only animal that is curious, almost every animal in the world is curious about what they see and what they do. Humans just have that extra knowledge that other animals do not have.

The history of science covers the development of science from ancient times to the present. It encompasses all three major branches of science: natural, social, and formal. Science's earliest roots can be traced to Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia around 3000 to 1200 BCE.

I think the history of science is important because now we get to see how science has changed over the course of the years. it is also awesome to think about how science will be changed in the future and how it is always evolving.
