This is a real problem because the melting of this ice shelf will increase the sea levels from 1.2 to 3.6m. It can go to 3.6 because the melting of this ice sheet can trigger a chain reaction of melting and cause the entire West Antarctica ice sheet to melt off into the ocean. This problem is alarming because with the rising sea levels and the thawing of the ice sheet, carbon dioxide previously trapped in the ice will be released as it thaws which will further increase climate change and its scary outcome.
