The United States army is fighting in wwII, but they could have many more soldiers if they would let the African Americans. The white Americans wouldn't let the African Americans (knowing about the way they abused them when they were slaves) help fight for our country in the military. Even if they did they wouldn't let them have the same amount accessibility to the military supplies. This is all because of the pigment of someones skin. I wonder if the whites are even ashamed of what they did. African Americans were not able to fight in the war, but they were able to do most things other than go into combat. For example, African American Dorie Miller knew how to cook and that was her job in wwII. She went out to fight for a little bit and saved many soldiers. Later she got in trouble for stepping off of her duty.

All African Americans wanted was to have people view them the same as whites, to not feel like they constantly have to run from who they really are, and last they just want to feel equal. Why did whites have to treat African Americans (and other races as well I'm just focusing on African Americans... obviously) with immense amounts of utter disrespect and make them feel so humiliated to be themself. In wwII, whites and African Americans could tolerate each other to fight and win instead of wasting a bunch of time in their own countries drama then maybe wwII would've went a little smoother. I really think it is so sad that the whole reason whites couldn't get along with African Americans is because of the color of their skin. They never did anything wrong they obeyed them when they were kept as slaves and they are still getting punished today for it. For example they were fighting for racial rights it overcrowded cities to make a larger statement.

(melissa berchtold)
Both Army And American public had a difficult time accepting WAC/women in uniform. For example a lot of woman did not give up even though men thought low of them and said women can't do anything as good as men. But later on they proved them all wrong by the end of the war and their contributions were widely heralded.
