In the text it states,"'Thought you’d be up,’ he pretended to grumble.’This is just a knickknack i made in my spare time.’... The object he had treated so casually was beautifully meticulous. It was a piece of art”(Yep 61-62). Uncle Bright Star probably in his free time made Moon Shadow a structure of a monkey in which he carved himself. The sculpture probably did take a long time considering how old he is to make such a magnificent for his nephew would take a lot of determination and something to drive him on with to make such a sculpture for him.

Moon Shadow has been through several struggles like the time when he came to America to now him washing laundry never knowing the day when he  could see his mother and grandmother but still never gives and make the best of things even though he's been through so much.

Father was like all mad at first when Moon Shadow told him that he asked Miss Whitlaw to help the letter and that he told her about Father's Dream but then the next morning Father was like smoothing it and trying to make it look like it was brand-new or something and reading instead of yelling at Moon Shadow.
