What were the highlights you discovered in intercultural communication and what questions did it provoke? Do you have any interesting experiences of intercultural communication?

I think it was really interesting in the ESL classroom to see the mix of South American, Asian and European cultures. You can really see in team work how big those differences are; how they talk to each other and their body language and their sense of space and touch.

Hall's take on high and low context cultures and their sense of time really helped my understanding of students from different countries - especially from the Middle East. Not understanding how direct they are in communication can come across as rude and in your face but knowing that it is cultural helps you not to take it personally.
