Hearing these policies almost makes me more determined to ensure these students have a good foundation and background for learning about these things. Censorship is horrible but especially when people are learning, you need information and access to learn! These policies make me more committed to my students, families, and communities

These policies show that there is a growing need for equity and inclusion in Florida education. While some of these bills were concerning as a social sciences placement, it is nice to know that the community of educators do not accurately reflect some of the sentiments represented in these policies. I want my students to feel safe and welcomed regardless of the policy excluding some of their identities, and I hope to commit to that mission in my career as an educator.

After today's session, I feel better informed about the actual application of these "anti-woke" laws. The team at UF highlighted ways in which we can discuss these controversial topics without breaking the law. I really appreciated that and I will know that there are ways to give my students access to all the information on a subject even when legislation makes that difficult. I am committing myself to creating an inclusive classroom environment by keeping this in mind.

I can work with students who are disproportionately impacted by these policies to point them in the directions of resources they may find useful or that can help them feel more respected without explicit instruction that runs against the state legislation.
