Were Families Closer 50 Years Ago?

Athar, FR9

Having a nice dinner with your family seems nice, and you could strengthen your relationship with your other family member, and it's one of the easiest way to do it. Sounds easy, but for us it's actually pretty hard, especially when the generation gap between you and your parents is far. Even 10 years of gap could make a huge difference, and that's what we're going to talk about. How does generation gap affects our activities and relationship, and were families closer 50 years ago?

Let's start from our generation, the one who loves technology, and can't take their hand away from tiny little computer in our pocket, or what we call "smartphones". It really is smart innit? I mean you can do a lot of things. Play games, ah yes, one of my favourite things to do. Update your status, connect with strangers, find out new information, it's great. No wonder our generation can't live without it. Though it's something special and so magical, everything have its own downside. When you're spending too much time on your phone, when are you going to spend your time with your family, your pets, your friends? The more we use our phone, the less we spend our time with family, and seems like the question's answered. Families WERE closer back then. Now I'm talking on one side, but we haven't talked about how's back then?

Years ago, smartphones weren't even smart. They were just things that we use to send messages, to call somebody, and it's so slow. Sending message with a pigeon could be way faster than using phones. Now of course, that's just an analogy, but that's truly what's happening. People don't use phone regularly. It's something that only the rich would have, that's how exclusive it was. Though because of they (the olds) don't use their phone regularly, whenever they're eating dinner with their family they would talk, and share stories. Huh, seems like families WERE closer back then. But is it really?

Inventions of internet, smartphones, email, WhatsApp, Instagram, and applications that allow us to talk with other people from far far away is something that we use to connect with our own family that perhaps live in other country than you're. We use video call, voice call, to strengthen our relationship with our family, and that's wonderful. They, the old people, they couldn't video call their children, wife, or husband when they're going aboard, going somewhere far. It all depends on how you use it, all depends whether you want to connect with your family, depends from ourselves.

Family Bonding Relationships!

Nadya FR9

Families are one of the most important things in our lives. Without them, we wouldn't be able to adapt to the world. We need guidance for what we will experience in the future, and that's where family comes in handy. Through many generations, our ancestors grew their children with love, education, and responsibility so that they could make their future generation successful. But of course, it doesn't always work out.

Family comes in many different shapes and sizes. What I mean, is that they have their own speciality or uniqueness, and that could be both a bad thing and a good thing. For example, a good family bonding begins with how each family member treats each other and the parents are mostly incharge of keeping the family intact. Bad family bonding usually comes from the past generations where the parents treated their kids horribly, so in the end the kids continued their bad habits and passed it to the next generation. But of course that could be prevented by the next generation if they have a willingness to make their future generation to be a healthy and happy one.

So in conclusion, whether you were born 50 years ago or even 100 years ago, It doesn't change how close you are to your family. It depends on how you treat them and how understandable you are for what they have been through. Even if nothing bad ever happens, you have to understand that a mistake could happen any time, and that's not an excuse for you to break a family bond, instead it's something you could learn for the future.
