My democratic classroom would be full of flexible seating. If I expect students to drive the conversations we have in class in more of a non-traditional way, I feel that it is also important that I give them comfortable and more relaxed places to sit and think in a more non-traditional way. Not every student can sit in a desk all day and be successful, and this will allow the environment to adapt alongside the students needs, rather than the students being forced to adapt to the environment. 
2. I would have soft lighting in my classroom. I want my room to have a comfortable, homey feeling. It is vital to me that students feel safe in my room so that they can learn and grow to the best of their abilities. 
3. I will have classroom policies (for easy reference) posted all over the classroom, as well as posters created by students showing their thinking and other things that are important to them and their lives. 3. Communicate effectively. Teachers in a democratic classroom require the ability to have conversations with their students in a way that makes them feel heard and understood, but also in a way which gives the students some direction to follow. It is also vital that these teachers communicate well with families, in order to ensure that they are kept in the loop on what students are learning and accomplishing in the classroom. 
4. Create an open and welcoming classroom environment. In a classroom that hinges upon student input and interaction, it is vital that teachers create classroom communities that encourage the sharing of ideas and opinions openly. 
5. Pay attention to current events and up to date with student interests. It is vital that teachers in democratic classrooms stay up to date with the topics and ideas that are at the forefronts of their students minds. This way, they can ensure that they are equipped to teach lessons that are relevant and applicable to their students specifically.
