Stress- man I cant tell you how much I had. Not only because of my job sometimes school and I dislike having stress. To be honest my stress levels have been low, and i am trying to keep it at that. You know how you get anxiety and your heart , sweating, starts beating fast- what caught my attention is that Kelly said " view them as energized" which makes so much sense. Turn something that is negative to your body mentally and physically but think of something as god . I really liked Kelly talk talking about our body with the effects we get from stress. This made me view stress as something that isn't "stressing " me its more as its helping my physical changes of my body.

I was very interested in how Kelly described emotions as being energized. I think it is very important to do this, because we judge our emotions so quickly, most often the "negative" emotions. When we view it as an energy, we take a different perspective and give ourselves a moment to process what the energy means. She also mentioned that there is an increased risk of death if you believe that stress is harmful. This plays into how we judge our emotions, and we can see the consequences are real.

I thought this was a really interesting talk. I liked the idea of changing the way you think to actually alter how your body interprets stress. I experience a ton of stress and honestly the physical symptoms of my anxiety often lead to more anxiety because I get stressed about what i'm putting my body through. This talk gave me a new perspective and a better way to look at stress so that it can be less damaging to me, which is cool. I've always thought that our thoughts hold great power over our bodies, so it completely makes sense that a change in mindset would result in a change of impact.

After hearing Kelly speak on how stress can be a friend rather than a foe. It has made me realize that there can be more positives in negatives. I've always tried to turn my weaknesses into strengths by thinking in new ways. This idea was taught to me in work experience for interviews. In the context of using it on stress, makes me understand the benefits better. Stress is something everyone deals with daily. For me I've always adapted to it and mentally braced myself for the worst. However, when Kelly spoke of the bodies reactions as being more viable. Instead of the preconceived notion that our bodies responses are due to dealing with pressure badly. I found that really amazing and universal. I agree a hundred percent with the idea that if we believe stress is bad then stress will be bad. But, if we think of stress as friend, then we'll benefit more from understanding it.

Everything in life is affected on how you perceive it. Stress, as Kelly shared with us, is one of those things. The way you look at stress and respond to it can have long term effects. With the mindset you create, this will increasingly benefit you mentally and physically healthwise. We as humans tend to respond more when things are negative more than when situations are positive. A common goal for most of us is to be happy, but why are we the one's restricting ourselves? It all comes back to channelling all your energy and practically mentally train yourself, to be more positive and less stressed. We have been stressed about stress for too long, I think it's about time to embrace her.

While listening to Kelly McGonigal, I found it fascinating that our bodies have a built-in mechanism for stress resilience. Learning about how the belief that stress is harmful is the fifteenth leading cause of death in the United States was an eye-opener for me. This helped me change my perspective about the stress I have been experiencing in my life. I learned that I could become more resilient if I adopt the belief that my stress is my body's way of preparing me for upcoming challenges. After listening to Kelly's talk, I am encouraged to change my mindset around stress so that I can use it in a positive way.

I found it fascinating that interpreting stress as something helpful, can change one's stress response to be a healthier response. My stress levels have been all over the place and I'm trying to be mindful of it, Kelly's talk has given me another viewpoint of stress and its benefits. I like the idea of altering your mindset in order to benefit you health and not letting a harmful belief about something damage you. Learning about the fact that the belief that stress is bad for you being the fifteenth cause of death was a massive eye-opener for me and has motivated me to change my outlook about stress.

The way you perceive stress alters the way the stress itself effects your health. Changing your mind about stress changes the way your body reacts to said stress. The physical changes in response to stress can be interpreted as "being energized" and "helpful". Interestingly the results were similar to the perception of courage and joy. The change in response effects your health, so the solution is to "be better at stress" instead of reducing stress. This seems non-intuitive to me, and I wonder if the perception lowers the stress as opposed to changing the view. People are feeling more capable and thus less stressed.

After listening to Kelly's Tedtalk, I thought that it was interesting that she said that she doesn't want us to not stress but instead learn how to deal with the stress. It is fascinating to learn that stress makes you social and that oxytocin is released when you hug someone and motivates you to seek support. It is important to support each other while dealing with stress. The stress hormone strengthens the heart.

I personally found it very interesting and intriguing that our bodies have a factor, I guess you can say, that allows us to somehow channel out stress, and it's all through our perceptions and how we ourselves can manage that stress. It can be by imagining it to be an object or an event.
