First Wave of the Internet (1985-1999)

The first wave of the internet was pretty much laying the infrastructure for the advancement of the internet. During this stage the internet was in its infancy and was just getting build form the ground up by people, platforms, and policies. During this phase people were starting to get familiar with the internet.

First Wave of eCommerce (1995+)

When the possibility of purchasing online was just becoming real, most costumers where learning the mechanisms of the internet and where going onto these sites already having decided what they were going to buy. Furthermore, people were treated virtually buying like real life shopping and would compare prices before settling on a purchase.

Second Wave of the Internet (2000-2015)

This is when apps and startups where starting to solidify themselves into the digital powerhouses we see today. We can see products and corporation really dominate this ere. Companies like google, Amazon, and Facebook where really stepping into the limelight.

Second Wave of eCommerce (2006+)

During this new era was when we saw a shift in how people shopped digitally, now people went online are were buying things they didn't know they wanted. People were starting to spread their beliefs online via social media, and ecommerce was starting to mold into the digital industry it is today.

When I was thirteen I used the internet for the firs time (As far as I'm aware). I used it to watch YouTube videos that a friend of mine was talking about at school. This was the first time become aware of the internet and what it can be used for.

The Third Wave of eCommerce (2012+)

At this point buyers are becoming more ie involved with crowdfunding efforts and this is really when crowdfunding sites like kickstarter really start to take off. People become more involved with helping independent teams create their own products.

Third Wave of the Internet (2016+)

The third wave of the internet is were we are right now. Everything and everyone is connected together. The internet has gone mainstream and people are using it more than ever and for whatever they need.

Pandemic (2021)

I had been using the internet prior to the pandemic of course, but during the pandemic I became truly aware of the boundless limits of the internet. it was really impressive how the entire education system could shift online.

Instagram (2019)

This was the year I started to use my first social media app. It was amazing being able to see and reach people from all over the planet and opened my eyes to the reach of tech startups.

Pokemon Go (2016)

In 2016, Pokémon Go exploded and we got to see how the real world played into the game and how GPS and other mechanisms helped to make a really engaging and interactive experience.

AP Computer Science (2023)

This year I took AP Computer Science and taking this course helped me see and understand the infrastructure that the internet runs on.

Graduation (2020)

I had my middle school graduation via zoom because of the pandemic and this was the first time I was introduced to virtual learning and that it was possible to learn completely online.

Google Maps (2022)

I think the future of eCommerce is bright as going into the future eCommerce will account for more and more of the global market. Ecommerce site such as Amazon are gaining more steam and are becoming more integral to the life of people.
