In this poem, Rudyard Kipling is telling his son what it feels like to be a man and how the son will know when he is a man. I like how this poem it sounds real and it is the truth, as well as it being told to a person as if Rudyard Kipling was talking. I also like how this could be true for any person. In this poem, Rudyard Kipling is saying how it will be like to be a man.

In the 3rd line, there is a hyperbole as not all men will hate doubt you there will always be someone that has some trust in you. In the 11th line, there is another hyperbole as triumph and disaster as not at all the same and cant be as they are the opposite of a disaster can't be an achievement. The poem if was written in iambic pentameter (the most common) they consist of 10 syllables divided into 5 feet. "And stop and build em up with worn-out tools" this is a metaphor as it is saying that it won't be easy to rebuild your life after it has been broken since it says worn out tools NOT brand new easy to use tools. "f you can meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat those two impostors just the same" This is an example of a personification as it says "meet with" and you can meet with triumph and disaster Rudyard Kipling is giving them human characteristics. As well as it says "Imposters" triumph and disaster cant be imposters as they are not human or alive so it cant be something else.

In this poem, there is a simile when it says "Skate like a rocket" as no one is able to skate as fast as a rocket. There is also an onomatopoeia as it says in the 3rd last line DING representing the sound a puck would make as it hits the crossbar. There is not a meter or rhyme scheme in this poem.
