Today was another interesting day.
I learnt about drumming for the second time and it was really interesting to compare with previous drumming in South Africa and Senegal. I think I've found my rhythm now and will explore it.
Music always connects people and you don't have to share the same language when you share music. It has its own way it's of communication across social classes, generations and continents.
My favourite quotes are two:
" the reasons why you do things are more important than what you do"
"The hummingbird and the bee" in Rita's daughter's story. Busy busy women, multitasking!
I don't remember how to upload the pics so please do it for me as I will share some on what's app.
Mona

Today we had an oportunity to try the rhythms of Gwo Ka. There are seven different rhythms and we tried to play them. We played on drums, sang and danced together. It was felt full of energy while we were hit the drums, because Gwo Ka music can explore different feelings.

Music was never my favourite thing but I must say I always enjoyed it. Today I enjoyed it a lot. Within its rythm ale melody and all the vibration you could See and feel! I have learnt again that the music is a medium connecting people. We can share emotions, feelings, enjoy important things that happen in our lives! Music is important part of our Culture and everyone can share it regardless the skills. Everyone can share music!

Today we had a great opportunity to feel the rhythm of Guadeloupe. We used our senses to experience the unity in music. It is crucial for me to learn the cultural diversity of the place I visit in order to understand people's emotions, opinions and their way of thinking. If we don' t "touch" the culture with all our senses we will only see things according to our prejudice without the use of critical thinking. It became obvious for me today that we should use the five dimensions of multiculturalism to get to know people and to understand what they feel, what they think, why they behave in a certain way.

Today experince of drums was very important to me. But I would like to share other things we have discussed Today - multiculturalism's five dimensions. First of all, there is content integration important. I thought about an example of Marcin Gortat who is Polish MBA International Player. That would served as a good example of PE classes. Second, the idea of critical thinking and looking at the thing from many Angles. Third, there are different learning methodes and giving choice to children. It can be the way they want to learn or maybe the place where they want to learn. Forth, its prejudice reduction - knowing the facts and not relying on what we think it can be. Finally, fifth, there is social and school structure --implementing it all into everyday school life and school structutes. All these dimensions made me thinking on how I can influence my own everyday practice.

Sanja

In the theoretical part, today we have talked about the five dimensions of multiculturalism. It was interesting to me that we were talking about how big changes start so that we start from our own transformation. Then we went on about the importance of music in people's lives and the connection of music to other sciences. Through practical work we have proven that music speaks all languages.I recognized many emotions listening to the Gwo Ka rhythm today. The funniest part of the day was learning by doing. The drummer in me has yet to grow. Beautiful day! Thank you Rita and today's Gwo Ka teachers.

As we look all the cultures around the world we can see that music has great part of it and it actually represents different societies eventhough some of them share similar instruments, songs, traditional clothes...
Music is a link for interaction between people and nations, a way of communication and socialization,a strong bond between the borders. It expresses what words cannot describe...
Gwo Ka drums are used for folk music in Guadeloupe. There are 7 rhythms and each of them represents different feeling and emotion like love, sorrow, pain... The most complicated one represents the strength of Guadeloupe which is a unique mixture of African, Indian and French islanders.
