The takeaways that I had from the article were to film direct instruction ahead of time instead of showing it over Zoom. This will be a challenge for my ELD 3 class where I teach long term English Learners because we use a scripted program. However, for the history classes I co-teach, this is a great idea that I would like to try, in order to limit synchronous time.

Being able to use backchannels (also mentioned in past PD sessions) will be an immense help during virtual and in person instruction. Students can help each other without relying on one person in the room. In my computer science class, students used a backchannel to ask questions related to coding, debugging, etc. and it worked really well. I am looking forward to seeing this play out in the coming days.

Also, I like the idea of pairing students (one virtual to one in person student). If I am unable to hear or answer a question from a virtual student, the in-person student can relay it to me. Being personal liaisons to virtual students should not be an expectation of in-person learners, but having "cohorts within cohorts" is another layer of support that would be nice to have!
