Extension Level Activity

Challenging: Create an ABAB Pattern with Size Differences

Strengths: The lesson effectively develops problem-solving skills by allowing children to figure out solutions independently and encourages deeper thinking by using size differences in patterns.

Areas for improvement: The two-object pattern looks too easy for them. To make it more challenging, consider mixing three objects instead of two. This will push students to think more critically and recognize more complex patterns.

Thank you for the great feedback! I will add a question like “Where do we see patterns in nature?” so children can think and connect the lesson to real life. I will also give them time to share their patterns with the class. This will help them feel proud, build confidence, and remember what they learned better.

To make it more challenging, I will use three different objects in the pattern. This will help the children think more and understand harder patterns.
