When reading this poem I think of a reasonable sized white house with lots of flowers and trees around it. I can see a kid running from his mother after being caught doing something wrong. But all of this is being seen through a window across the street by a neighbor.

1. Reminded me of when I lived in New Hampshire and house was surrounded by flowers and strawberries.
2. This also brought back memories of watching my sisters play outside through a window while i was in timeout.
3. Surprising this also brought back memories from the only time I was ever spanked because I stole cookies.

The speaker sounds emotional and educated. It seems like he is working or stuck at home and see this happens frequently. I feel like the narrator is a man because it seems like he connects better with the little boy. So much so that he has a flash back to the time where he was in the same the situation.

I think this poem has a couple of values. For myself, it reminds me that your actions can have a lasting affect on people. Also as a society we can see how growth through discipline can happen. But there is a fine line between discipline and abusive punishment.
