About Me (Present Simple)

My name is Simon and I am 21 years old. Currently, I am a student from the La Salle University preparing myself to become a teacher in various languages like Spanish, English, and French. Every day I am used to sleep during the mornings and wake up at 10 a.m. to start my day. Most of the times I have to commute from Chia, which is my hometown, to Bogotá where my university is located. During this time I enjoy listening to pop music from singers like Taylor Swift or Olivia Rodrigo. However, sometimes I also read books in the bus or the transmilenio. My favorite type of books are science fiction books specially related to utopian scenarios like the series of books published by the author Pittacus Lore. However, I try to get out of my confort zone by reading other types of literature like philosophy or poems. At 6 p.m I finish most of my classes and I take the transmilenio to go back to Chia to begin my night shift in a call center offering customer service to hotels from all the world. During days that I do not need to go to the university, I use my time to do my homework, but also enjoy spending time with my friends and family by going to eat to restaurants or shopping malls. If I feel too tired to go outside, I like to spend my time watching movies or tv shows like "Suits" which is an amazing and entertaining show about lawyers.

An Important Memory (Past Simple)

In the year 2023, I participated in an event dedicated to the Eras Tour Concert made by Taylor Swift in which the event organizer was going to present the most famous songs from each one of the music eras of this artist. I went that night with my friend Camila dressed with thematic clothes representing some music eras. It was a very fun night full of music and dance! Later that night, the event organizers run out of drinks and we were very thirsty since the place was closed and there was little ventilation. Fortunately, we were allowed to leave the place to get some bottles of water from outside because the only drinks available offered by the organizers were some little cocktails. We also had the chance also of buying some VIP tickets which included various things like pins, stickers and posters of Taylor Swift which I shared with my friends. Sadly, one of the items that I got was a keychain with Taylor Swift figure as the Virgin Mary, but I lost it during the event because I was playing with it during the whole event and didn't notice where I left it.

My future plans and predictions (Will & Going to)

In the future, I will become a language teacher and will focus on sharing a different perspective of teaching languages in schools. As soon as I finish my career and get graduated, I will start looking for a job in a school to create an impact in young students education. I want to do things differently in schools to provide useful language tools to all students since most of the language classes in schools are focused on simply getting a grade. Nonetheless, it doesn't encourage a useful and meaningful learning in students. I am going to make sure to offer or present a model of teaching that allows students to learn languages with a significance in their lives. This model will provide components of the language that catch the student's interest and provide communicative skills. It will also encourage them to have needs and desires to learn various languages to accomplish what they want or need. For this reason, I am going to design this model based on the student needs and goals in order for the language to have importance in each student's life.

An Unusual Experience (Present Perfect)

I have experienced the strangest situation while returning from the SOFA event in Corferias. I remember that it has already been 7 p.m., and I have gone with David to the Transmilenio Station of Corferias. It's difficult to explain, but we basically needed to move to the next station Quinta Paredes to get the bus we needed. So, we have taken a bus which stops at every station and have gone to the next station. However, whatever station we have arrived was totally unknown to us because we have not found the bus we needed and we have made sure that it wasn't Quinta Paredes. Afterwards, we have gone back to Corferias station and we had forgotten to ask which station we have been previously. This has left us puzzled because there is no station between Quinta Paredes and Corferias and we had gone to the right direction. For this reason, we simply decided to explain the whole situation as if we have been in a ghost station that was neither Coferias nor Quinta Paredes.
