Keeping track of the conversation!

Went well, I had lots of similar interests with most Chita city students. I asked them about likes & dislikes, age, name, birthday, and well-being. At the end of the lesson, I ended up getting some of their social media accounts and have been talking to them since! Although it did go really well and we had fun, it was a bit tricky at times trying to break the awkward silence after not having anything other to say.

I asked 9 questions in Japanese.

-Where do you live?

-Is is hot in Japan and is it cold in NZ

I didn't answer or ask many questions in English.

I enjoyed practicing my Japanese with people who actually knew the language

The scariest part was when I ran out of things to ask. My brain kept glitching and in the end all I was saying was sumimasen

:(

Some feedback would be maybe to give some questions to the Chita city students in English so we had more to talk about than cats :D

Other than that, I really enjoyed the experience, even though I felt like the ground was melting underneath me!

Once I asked if they liked Totoro. Someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. Also asked whether they had ever travelled outside of Japan before.

When we understood each other.

When I didn't know what to say next in Japanese, or when I couldn't get them to understand what I was trying to say. Or I couldn't remember something and had to try find it in my notes.

What I enjoyed most:

Finding things I liked that others liked too, like tea, apple juice, badminton, and cats and dogs.

What I found most difficult:

Having enough things to say in the time frame, because I found that I ran out of questions quickly, and when we switched to English they didn't have too many things to ask either.

The most difficult thing was:

-Trying to find enough things to say to fill in the 2 and a half minutes and trying to understand them.

We found remembering some of the questions a bit difficult so we went to our notes a lot but eventually we used our notes less

We were having trouble saying the right stuff and would sometimes stutter and say the wrong word but we pushed through and made it in the end.
