The main character in Dark Life is named Ty. He is adventurous in the beginning, because he was always curious and wanted to explore the ocean. I also, know this because on page 3 it says, "How many rules had I just broken? Visiting Coldsleep Canyon alone: forbidden. On nothing but a mantaboard: absolutely forbidden. Exploring a derelict sub: off the sonar screen." This shows that he was exploring the canyon even though he was breaking rules.
Throughout the book Ty changes because of Shade attacking people in the territory and becomes selfless.
Ty's second trait is selfless. I know he is selfless because, he always wants to help people in need, like Gemma and the families who are attacked by Shade. I also know this because, on page 126, it says, " 'Ty please help me find him.' How was I supposed to say no to that?" This shows that he couldn't say no to helping her, even though he could get in trouble.
Ty is a teenager that has kelp green eyes, brown hair, glowing skin and lean muscle. He is resourceful and knows how to survive in the ocean.

In the Book Dark Life the setting is in the Atlantic Ocean but, it is in the future, and the east coast has fallen off the United States of America and some people live under water. I know it is in the future and in the Atlantic Ocean, because on page 1 it says, "I peered into the deep sea canyon, hoping to spot a toppled skyscraper. Maybe even the Statue of Liberty. But there was no sign of the old East Coast," this shows the setting because it said "old East Coast" and he was underwater.

The conflict in, The Hunger Games, is Character vs.
society. It is this conflict, because Katniss hates the capitol and a lot of the things it does, especially the Hunger Games. Katniss realizes that every district is poorer than the capitol, because the districts give the capitol things, so the capitol has everything they need and they don't have to do anything.
In Dark Life the conflict is also character vs. society, because the government said that of they didn't help capture all the bandits they would take away the territories benefits like, being able to work a plot of land and get it for free and getting cheap liquigen in the trading post.
They reasons they are different conflicts, is because usually Ty is fine with the government and doesn't have a reason not to like them until they started taking things away, while, Katniss has hated them ever since she figured out what they have been doing her entire life. One reason they are the same, is that they both have a problem with their governments.

In Dark Life and The Hunger Games there are a lot of science fiction and fantasy aspects.
Dark Life takes place in the future on Earth. People live underwater, they breathe under water with something called liquigen, and they have all sorts of under water machines that don't exist in real life.
In The Hunger Games they are also on Earth in the future. They have unreal creatures, hovercraft, and they live in a utopia vs. dystopia society, because it isn't really as great as they want people to think it is.
There are new machines in both books, they are both in the future but, there aren't really that many other similarities. In The Hunger Games no one can live underwater, unlike Dark Life. There aren't any hover craft, like in The Hunger Games, in Dark Life and even more differences.

In The Hunger Games the setting is in a country called Panem for the whole book but in different spots in the country. One place is District 12. District 12 is where Katniss was born and raised and a place she loves where her mother and sister live. Another place the books takes place is in the Hunger Games arena where she, and 23 other tributes battle to the death. I know she was in District 12 because, on page 4, it says, "Our part of District 12, usually nicknamed the Seam, is usually crawling with coal miners heading out to the morning shift at this hour." I know she was in the arena because, on page 147, it says, "'Ladies and gentlemen, let the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games Begin!'" Every single Hunger Games takes place in a arena, so that's how I know she's in the arena.

The main character in The Hunger Games is named Katniss. In the beginning she is protective of her little sister Prim. One way I figured this out is, "I reach her just as she is about to mount the steps. With one sweep of my arm, I push her behind me.
'I volunteer!' I gasp 'I volunteer as tribute!'"(page 22)
This quote shows that she was not willing to let her go to the Hunger Games, so she volunteers for her and she goes instead.
Throughout the book Katniss grows up and has to take risks to survive the Hunger Games, and because of that she becomes a risk taker.
Katniss is a risk taker. She does things she knows are dangerous but, she does it any way, because she is helping herself or people she loves. On page 186, it says,” If I can drop it down on them, I may be able to escape. But I’ll risk my life in the process.” Then, when she cuts it down it shows that she is willing to take risks.
Katniss is a teenage girl that is aware of animals and plants and how to use them in the wild and is good at shooting a bow and arrow. She has black hair.
She's nicknamed The Girl on Fire. Katniss in her outfit in the opening ceremony surprised everybody because she was actually on fire! This throughout the book helped her, because it made everyone think she was bold.

Ty and Katniss are very different from each other, but are the same in someways. One reason they are the same is that they are both around the same age. Another reason is they are both very mature for their age. Also, they both have sisters that they really love. They are different because, Ty could almost not live on land he would need to live in water, but Katniss isn't like that. Katniss is under a lot of stress and thinks she is going to die, but Ty, even though he is stressed out, he isn't worried nearly as much as Katniss and he definitely doesn't think he is going to die.
