I was very nervous when i discovered i would be doing sound for the film as I am not very confident in this area, therefore it was important for me to use this week to build my confidence. Firstly, i attended a Zoom H6 recap session to ensure my knowledge and skills were up to the standard necessary. I also created sheets which i would use to track the sound files when recording, which would help both me and the editors to keep organised. I was also required to find a musician to compose a piece of music in the style of 'jazz' which will be used in the film. I found a student within the university who was willing to compose a piece for us. Finally, on the final day of pre-production we did a tech rehearsal. I used this opportunity to action out where i would hold the microphone during filming for the best result. There is a one shot scene at the start of the film, which required me and the 1st AD to choreograph a routine, which ensures i capture the best possible sound and never in view on the camera. I felt that i did my role to the best of my ability. However, there was definitely issues a long the way. For example, when filming the party scene the location itself was too loud for me to achieve a clear, and good quality sound. Therefore an ADR session has been booked for post-production week. Location noises were also an issue when filming the scenes in the apartment as there was construction taking place on the street below. This meant we had to do more takes until we were satisfied that the construction had not interfered with the sound quality. Overall, i am happy with the sound i have recorded during filming. I often got the producer Eleanor, to check over what i recorded for peace of mind. There was a couple of times it may have been too quiet so i made sure to turn the sound levels up for the following take. Before every shoot began, i did a wild track of each location which could be layered over the dialogue to make the sound more natural.
