                                                           Ambitious
“…But first I’m going to be a doctor, and George, for one, still thinks that’s pretty funny. I couldn’t be bothered with that. I’m going to be a doctor and everybody around here better understand that!” pg 50.
This quote shows that Beneatha is ambitious because she is focused on working to be a doctor other than anything. Beneatha does not want to be like the other woman who got married and became housewives. She was strongly minded and wanted to strive into being a doctor. Marriage was her second option if being a doctor did not work out for her assuming the century it was very hard for women to be anything.

What has He got to do with anything. Does He pay tuition? … It’s just that I get tired of Him getting credit for all the things the human race achieves through its own stubborn effort. There simply is no blasted God—there is only man and it is he who makes miracles!”
This quote shows that Beneatha is expressive because she showed her beliefs and didn't really care what anyone else thought. She said that God isn't good or else good things would happen to us.

I think Beneatha is a strong independent woman. Beneatha is a strong independent woman because she doesn't need a guy to be happy. She is a great example of independence. She chases her dreams and doesn't need a man to do it for er. She believes in herself and her beliefs and doesn't care what anyone as to say about her or her family.

This painting stood out to me. It showed gender discrimination. Sexism (or gender discrimination is something Beneatha had to face when she wanted to be a doctor. Everyone telling her to just get married and become a house wife didn't phase er and she still believed in her dreams.

This poem talks about independent woman. This connects to Beneatha because she believed in her dreams and wanted to achieve them no thanks to a guy. She has gotten somewhere on her own and didn't need somebody she needs to depend on. She doesn't need a man to be happy and to achieve er dreams.

The song Survivor is about girls being independent and can survive and come back strong without a man. When they say "I'm gon' work harder" it reminds me of Beneatha. She doesn't give up in what she believes in. She doesn't let what people say get to her. Beneatha being independent and knows ow to take care of herself resembles this song.

Both plays had similarities and yet still ad differences. They had alike characters. For example i believed that Beneatha and Corey were very much alike. They strived for their goals no matter what people said to them. Te themes for Fences would be " Do whatever it takes to succeed your dreams"
and for Raisin in the sun is " No matter ow may people try and bring you down always stand up for yourself".
Beneatha and Cory both had many obstacles that they faced when they spoke out about their dreams. Cory had is dad who was stuck in is century. Beneatha had her family who told her to just get married and be quite. Yet they still pulled trough and stood up for themselves. Which is why i strongly believe Beneatha and Cory are similar.
