The Black Death was spread by Yersina Pestis. The disease was very contagious and anyone and or anything the rats touched would most likely get infected (Cummins pg. 103).

When somebody first got the disease there would be weird swellings on the groin and armpits with blood and pus coming out of those weird swellings ("Black Death."). More symptoms included a fever, vomiting, coughing up blood, and diarrhea.
