However, many people expected women to still focusing on being mothers, wives and taking care of the house. This created a kind of double role, where women often had to work a job and still do most of the housework.

In the novel, women don't appear very much in the story, and the few times they are mentioned, they have the same roles.

In culture and media, two different sides were shown. On one hand, women were seen as strong and independent people, especially in the growing business world. On the other hand, there was still pressure to look pretty, stay thin, and fit traditional feminine roles, which continues happening nowadays.

In Maine,their role was more concentrated in the farm doing farm-working,like: cultivate crips,breed animals, recolect vegetables,also they could work in small business. In this decade women were expected to behave: be obedient, respectful, organized and they were expected to dedicate their time to do house-keeping chores.

In conclusión we can notice there was a huge difference between women in the 60's and nowadays. Today the relation with men is much more equal concerning work,educación,health and house-keeping working. Now women don't have to behave some way and don't need to fulfill the expectations they had in the 60's

In the 1980s, women gained more independence. They started to work, and they even had different kinds of jobs. Feminism also had a big influence, and women were recognized more as individuals with their own goals. Even though there were still stereotypes and sexism, the 1980s were a really revolutionary period, because many women started to show that they could live in new ways.

In The Body, women play a very small role and are not the main focus of the story. Female characters (for example, the mothers) are only mentioned in a short part and don’t play an important role. This shows how many stories of that time gave more importance to the experiences of men, while women were often shown unimportant. At the same time, there is a lot misogyny around the story. For example, in the culture of Maine its very normal to people, especially teenagers, to use insults related to femininity to denigrate each other, showing how the story is centered on the male point of view. Also this treatment to women is embraced through society since this is a very small town.

In the 80s the women were passing through different crisis and important situations such as the right of voting and the expansion of the feminism after the first wave. In this period women were treated as inferior in comparison to men but they could work because of the industrialization.

Also many of them started movement like WLM, Working Class Communities Of Women’s Org. They started to notice injustices as well and the violence women were passing in different place, for example, in their houses, also the problems like rape and the difficulties that black women had and the behavior and treatment that men have arround them and the discrimination that LGBTQ women had in those times.

In the body (set in the 1950s), women were mainly seen as housewives, wives and mothers, with full responsibility for the home and children. There was a strong social pressure to maintain a good image in front of others, and their participation in jobs was limited to roles such as nurses, teachers, or secretaries. In the novel this social background is reflected in the way the boy’s mothers are represented: they remain in the back, with little influence on the main events, which underlines how women’s roles were confined to the domestic sphere. The narrative instad centers on the boys adventure, showing how the focus of society, and of the story itself, was often on men and boys, while women’s voices and experiences were minimized or overlooked.

In The Body, Stephen King shows women mostly in domestic and secondary roles, like mothers, waitresses, or as part of the boys' fantasies. Their influence is indirect: sometimes through absence, (like Gordie's mother), or through domestic authority, like Vern's mother. They are also seen as conquests by older boys, which shows that women are shown more as part of the boys' experiences than as central figures in any story. Female characters are also seen as sexual satisfaction or toys for older boys, marking the women as acaccessories male experience instead of central figures

The woman in the city from The Body:

The story takes place in the small town of Castle Rock, Maine, in 1960. It was a place where everyone knew each other, and the surrounding area was still wild with forests and railroad tracks. The women in the town, seen through gordie's friends, lived mostly normal lives as mothers and homemakers, with some working in local factories. The boys looked at them like authority figures, for example: strict teachers, mothers ,etc.
