Xander Barton - I beleive it was Ed’s childhood circumstances that turned Ed into the monster we know him as. The major events that influenced him was his mother’s beliefs and the death of his family memebers. Ed’s mother would frequently talk about how women were “sinful” which most likely altered Ed’s view of women as bad people that deserve bad things to happen to him. The death of his family also affected his childhood. The death of (what i assume) his family leaving him alone most likely gave Ed a lack of support emotional from people as well as traumatizing him, watching his family die.

Gein endured a difficult childhood. His father was an alcoholic, and his mother was verbally abusive toward him. Gein nevertheless idolized her, a fact that apparently concerned his elder brother Henry, who occasionally confronted her in Gein’s presence. In 1944 Henry died in mysterious circumstances during a fire near the family’s farm in Plainfield. Although Gein reported his brother missing to the police, he was able to lead them directly to the burned body when they arrived. I believe that ED’s actions are based on interests because growing up he was told right from wrong due to his mother being strict. His mother made her sons think women were sinful.
