When students are given support and a positive interaction students are able to think, take responsibility and change their actions. Teachers can support this by knowing and understanding the use of specific learning styles such as visual, auditory and kinesthetic methods that can help every student reach their full potential. I think of it in the same way cross-curriculum teaching considers various subjects in a lesson; if educators consider multiple variables in their students’ social, emotional lives, cultural backgrounds and/or understanding of language, they’ll be able to create a more trusting relationship which will ultimately help the student be a successful learner. That quote also supports the notion that educators are lifelong learners and that is what I plan to honor during my teaching career.
