How did the time period in which the work was written affect how and why it was written? (Think: who was in power at the time Shakespeare wrote this?)

Since there was a transition of a new king (James the first) Shakespeare wanted to kiss up to the new king by making play that shows how great and powerful he is. Queen Elizabeth died without a heir so Macbeth turns the murder of King Duncan in support of King James I. Macbeth's consequences of his actions are to appeal to King James I so show what tyranny and treason of the king will do to you.

How does placing the piece in the context of our time period affect its meaning and how it is perceived?

In today's context, this doesn't really work because there aren't Kings and queens in America and even in places that do have royal families like Britain, they don't actually have any governmental power
-Ayush
