When a child is upset, I talk to them calmly to help them understand their feelings, and I allow them to cry or sit quietly in a corner until they feel ready to rejoin their friends.

I believe that SEC are important because children need these skills to navigate what is right or wrong on a daily basis.

Social emotional competencies got to do with how children deal with their social emotions. Its very important for educators to tackle children’s social emotional and teach them how to control as some of them is not able to understand nor able to control their social emotional.

Q1As an educator we can be more sensible about children feelings especially during the arrival time ...eg when they are crying we can talk positive language to calm them

Talk to the child, asking them the reason behind their actions. Time out if necessary for certain children who tends to get aggresive. safety first.

Sometimes, incidental learning are great opportunity for children to learn SECs for example if children are fighting over a toy, I would ask them it this a correct way to act or do and what would be the best solution instead of fighting.

*Daily routine and following rules in the classroom

*Give time to listen to their stories

*Circle time talks and games

*Buddy system

* Calm down corner - isolate the child with behaviour issues and give time to calm down. Talk in a soothing way to make the child understand the situation.
