The impetus for the mosque began in 1966 when King Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz supported the initiative of the Pakistani Government to build a national mosque in Islamabad during an official visit to Pakistan. In 1969, an international competition was held in which architects from 17 countries submitted 43 proposals. The winning design was that of Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay. Forty-six acres of land were assigned for the project and the execution was assigned to Pakistani engineer and workers

If I went to Afghanistan I would visit the Bamyan Status ,because I saw a lot of pictures of Bamyan. It is a very beautiful place . Moreover, it is a very green country; it has abundance of oceans, fruit trees. So if I met the residents of Bamyan ,I would take a photo for remembrance. Every  year lots of visitors come to Afghanistan to visit the historical places. The people of Afghanistan are very kind and respectful and they love visitors and they serve the guests very well.
