Looking back on my first journal, I have realized what I have accomplished, and what I still need to work on next semester. My first value was perseverance. I think I stayed true to this value by learning about what my good skills are, and what skills I still need to work on. For example, I learned more about what I am interested in to chose a major, but I still need to work on time management to keep my grades up and succeed in my classes. My second value, family, is what I still something I value to this day. My family helps motivate, push me, and remind me of who I am as a person and who I want to become. Having them here is something that is very special to me because I know that one day, I won't be coming home to them every night. The third value, health, is something that I still need to work on to reach my own personal goals. Although I am physically active, I want to reach my own body weight goals and continue trying to live a healthy lifestyle. This can sometimes be a challenge for me because of my love for food. The fourth value, acceptance, is still something I struggle with a lot. I struggle with this because I still get down on myself for my not so good qualities and what I wish to change about myself. Accepting myself for who I am is still a work in progress. The fifth value, personal growth, is something I still want to work on , But I do believe I have learned a lot about myself tis semester. I have learned that I need to become better with time management, I need to take advantage of more opportunities, and I need to work on my procrastination. My values have been challenged because of how different college is rather than high school. Writing papers are different, how you manage your time is different, and grades are way different. These were all big shocks to me, but I do feel more prepared for next semester. I feel this way because I know what I have to do now to succeed.
