Hello, I am Claire, and your reporter for todays 6:00 am news where we are glad to oppose the fact that 4 astronauts have just been selected for the Artemis II mission. One of the four astronauts being from canada! We would be glad to introduce him to all of you!

Born on a farm in Ontario 1976, he had never remembered when he didn’t want to become an astronaut and shoot for the stars. Jeremy Hansen, a Canadian astronaut, has been selected for the Artemis II mission. All his life he dreamed about one day being able to see the world for himself.

 The dream he had for all his life had finally come true as he was announced as the first ever Canadian astronaut to circle around the moon for the past 50 years. Jeremy was a former  colonel and CF-18 pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force, and is now working hard to prepare for the Artemis II mission.

Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hanson has been chosen as one of the four astronauts that will orbit the moon, in Artemis II.

 Jeremy Hanson was born on January 27 1976 in London, Ontario. He used to be a fighter pilot when he joined the Canadian forces at the age of 18. When a message was sent out for the needs of astronauts his family, friends and teachers apply. His motto is “accept and appreciate where you are, stay in the mindset of creating solutions to the challenges you face, and find happiness in every day.”

Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hanson was born on January 27 1976. At the age of 18 he joined Canadian forces and learned to pilot a fighter jet. Growing up he always dreamed of going to space. Today 4 astronauts, one from Canada and 3 from the US, will be going on the Artemis 2 mission to circle the moon for research next year. Jeremy Hanson was chosen on the Artemis 2 mission. He’d travel farther than any Canadian will go, to show his country that anything is possible! He is going to deep space and will be the first Canadian to ever do that! His motto is “Accept and appreciate where you are, stay in the mindset of creating solutions to the challenges you face, and find happiness in every day.” This is a big day for Canada because no other Canadian has ever gone to the moon or in deep space!

There have been several Artemis Moon missions over the years. The NASA-led series of expeditions will lay the foundation for exploration of the Moon by humans and robots. It will also bring the first woman and the first person of color to the moon. Artemis I was a test flight with no one aboard. Artemis II is the first ever test flight with a crew aboard the Orion Spacecraft, and the first ever expedition to the moon with a Canadian aboard. Artemis III is a mission that will land on the Moon, intended to launch no earlier than 2025. 

This Canadian astronaut, Jeremy Hansen, is no doubt satisfied and excited for the adventures ahead.

Now you're probably wondering “What is that?” or “Is this important?”

Well, the Artemis II mission is a space mission where 4 astronauts are going to be orbiting (circling) the moon for 10 days! This mission will be important because this is the first time in around 50 years (1972) since humans have gone to the moon! 

The Canadian that has been selected is Jeremy Hansen, age 47. Jeremy was born on January 27th, 1976 in London Ontario. He was raised on a farm near Alisa Craig, Ontario before moving to Ingersoll to go to high school. When he left high school, he went to study at the Royal College in Kingston where he became a fighter pilot at the age of 17! He became the first Canadian to lead a NASA astronaut class, which means that he is in charge of training young astronauts from the United States, and Canada!

Now, Jeremy is a father of 3 kids, and is happily married.

Jeremy and the other astronauts are going to explore the Moon with new technologies and tools, which will allow them to explore it like never before!

This is a BIG moment for Canada and all of the Canadians because this is the first time a Canadian has gone further than the I.S.S (International Space Station).

Jeremy Hansen was born January 27, 1976 in London, Ontario. Although he was raised on a farm, there was never a period in his life where he did not want to be an astronaut. He was always interested in space exploration because he wanted to see what it would be like to leave Earth and look at it from beyond. 

Throughout Jeremy’s life, he had many career highlights. Only at the young age of 12, Jeremy Hansen began his journey into aviation by joining the 614 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron in London, Ontario. Then, in 1999, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in honours space science from the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario. Finally, this year, he has been assigned to the Artemis II mission. 

Artemis II is the first crewed test flight of the Artemis program, which is a multi-mission campaign set to make the way for the human exploration of Mars. This mission will launch from NASA’s space centre in Florida. The Orion spacecraft, the spacecraft for the Artemis II mission, will orbit Earth twice to ensure that the systems are working properly. This launch of the Orion spacecraft for this mission will take place no earlier than November, 2024 and the duration is approximately 10 days. 

The Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen got selected to go to the Artemis II mission. He is from London, Ontario. He has a Bachelor of science in space science and a master of science in physics. Jeremy was born on January 27th of 1976. He has a Flight certification: Airline Transport Pilot Licence.

The Artemis II is a mission that will test if the rocket will work. It will launch in 2024. This program was a part of the Apollo program between the time of 1969 to 1972. Like the Apollo program there will be three parts of it. Artemis I was a test flight with no astronauts on it and it was launched on the Space Launch System rocket in 2022. Artemis II is the first-ever test flight with a crew aboard the Orion spacecraft (including a Canadian Jeremey Hansen), scheduled to launch on the SLS rocket no later than May 2024.

Today is the first time that a Canadian astronaut will be part of launching a rocket to land on the moon.
