Digital Artifact for "Healthy Development of the Whole Child"

Topic: Child Development

To highlight my learning in this course, I will create a digital infographic as my artifact. This infographic will focus on the stages of child development and include important information about physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development from infancy to early childhood.

What This Artifact Shows:

My understanding of key developmental milestones at different ages.

How development is influenced by environment, relationships, and culture.

The importance of creating activities and environments that support the whole child.

Concepts learned from theorists like Piaget, Vygotsky, Erikson, and how they apply in real classroom settings.

Why I Chose This Artifact:

Creating an infographic allowed me to organize important information in a clear and creative way that is also useful as a teaching tool. It helped me better understand and visually connect theories with practice. It also shows my skills in using digital tools for professional communication and resource sharing.

Topic: Types of Childcare

To highlight my learning in this course, I will create a Padlet as my digital artifact. This Padlet will explore the different types of childcare available in early childhood education, including licensed childcare centres, home-based care, Montessori programs, and school-age care. Each post will include visuals, descriptions, benefits, and real-life examples to support understanding.

What This Artifact Shows:

My understanding of the variety of childcare options available to families and their unique features.

The role of licensing, curriculum, and educator qualifications in each childcare setting.

The importance of offering inclusive, safe, and developmentally appropriate environments for young children.

How different childcare types support family needs, cultural values, and children’s developmental stages.

Why I Chose This Artifact:

Using Padlet helped me present information in an interactive and visually engaging way. It allowed me to connect different types of content—text, images, videos, and links—in one place. Padlet also supports collaboration and professional sharing, which reflects how ECEs work together to inform families and support each other’s practice.
