Did a good job!</li><li>On Observations : Would like a fair warning before being observed.</li><li>Make up work assignments only one allowed and must be uploaded (this is incorrect; two make-up assignments are allowed.)</li><li>Curriculum portion: OK understandable, but needs to be updated.</li><li>Human Relations curriculum needs more handouts.</li><li>Some concern's:<ul><li>Human Relations text book not quite good; role playing works better than the book.</li><li>Text book not gear to members involvement in terms of work related.</li></ul></li><li>Assessment discussion very good.</li><li>Open for group interactions.</li><li>Feedback from student surveys.</li><li>Scanners please help. All comments from instructors sent this way will be seen by the right people.</li><li>Otto found Locksmithing From Apprentice to Master digital copy in his portal!</li><li>William said if you go into Locksmith II you can't go back to Locksmith I if you need to.</li><li>Otto said OSHA portion is missing from Locksmith curriculum.</li><li>Question was raised about when to do group activities, Joseph said he groups on electric lock programming and master pinning.</li><li>William mentioned that fire code and local law could be grouped with life safety.</li><li>William said no need to mention specific types of cylinders; all work similarly.</li><li>May need more keys. Not enough because students break keys while learning.</li><li>Disagreement between instructors on whether students should have picks, may need clarification.</li><li>William does penal code as handout. Lindsay asked him to provide to everyone.</li><li>Lindsay suggested that if instructor is only assigned Locksmith II they should still have access to Locksmith I curriculum and vice versa.</li><li>William suggested key less access be part of building management class because supers need to know.</li><li>William suggested maybe an advanced Locksmith quick course for students who only get basics in Bronx.</li></ul>]]></description>

It was recommended that if Instructors feel students are placed inaccurately they should make recommendations for appropriate placement.</li><li>Instructors reviewed handout and interpreted the scores on the handout.</li><li>Instructor explained how to introduce scores to students. Class attendance, practice and homework are critical to continued progress. English immersion also helps improve scores.</li><li>Role play activity. One student one Instructor. Instructor explains score to student. Debrief: Recommended attending class more. Asking students how do they think they did so the can self evaluate and make recommendations to assist with improving scores. Do not review scores with students that have not improved their scores. Ask students what Instructors can do to help them improve. Help students identify what things they can do to continue to improve.</li><li>Literacy issues in native language may present issues. BEST is all about conversational English.</li></ul><div><strong>Other Agenda Items</strong></div><ul><li>English only in classroom discussion: Instructor has to adhere to rule. Tricks were shared to get students back to speaking English.<br>Handout provided indicating the importance of English only classes.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Facilitator: Joel Andrews<br>Assistants: Jose Gonzalez, Matt Fitzgibbons<br><br><strong>Scavenger Hunt</strong></div><ul><li>Instructor Porta URLl: training.32bjfunds.com</li><li>It was suggested that instructors wait until after the third week of classes before printing rosters, because no new students are permitted to enroll after that time; therefore, rosters should be finalized by that time.</li><li>With ADP, it was pointed out that instructors who teach a four-hour class should generally select "No Lunch" in the Out column, so that they do not automatically lose 1/2 hour of pay - unless they actually did take a 30-minute lunch break.</li><li>Instructors have been reminded how to submit feedback on curriculum and materials, and are encouraged to take the initiative to do so; in particular, they are reminded to send feedback to curriculum@32bjfunds.com.</li></ul><div><strong>BEST Plus Assessment</strong></div><ul><li>Instructors can now access student BEST PLUS scores on Dropbox, through their curriculum link.</li><li>For those with questions regarding BEST PLUS testing, they should email besttest@32bjfunds.com</li></ul><div><strong>Other Agenda Items</strong></div><ul><li>There will be an ESL 4 class offered at some sites starting this fall. Futures 5 will be used in this course.</li><li>Some instructors are struggling with how best to serve students when their reading/writing skills are far less proficient than their speaking/listening skills.Discussion of English-only policy, and instructor struggles when just one student doesn't understand, when the rest do. To handle this, instructors are reminded that everyone learns at a different pace, and to not feel disappointed if students don't understand the ideas presented right away. It's better to continue, without the use of other languages.  Additionally, if the class is filled with active learning activities in English, students will have less opportunity to fall back into their native languages.</li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Facilitator: Tom Thering<br>Assistant: Joe Cunningham<br><br><strong>Scavenger Hunt</strong></div><ul><li>Instructors took turns completing tasks from the scavenger hunt, including LMS tasks, exploring resources in the portal and finding curriculum materials in Dropbox.</li><li>Time was spent reviewing the new RLP curriculum documents. Tom pointed out how to access videos and illustrations from the lesson plan itself.</li></ul><div><strong>Mind Tap</strong></div><ul><li>Instructors were given instructions for creating an account in Mind Tap. Tom explained that a replacement program might be used that gives ACR and RLP students easy access to a digital version of the textbook.</li><li>Heating Systems instructors asked about access to digital materials that support the textbook. Tom said he would look into this for them.</li></ul>]]></description>
