I think the most important factor is the respectation to the experienced teachers . Most experienced teachers are quite old or they have worked harder than the others. Sometimes, they are considered out of date with technology, but they are experienced in teaching job.

Schools should give experiened teachers chance for sharing . Well, there are a lot to apply to one’s teaching practice. Theory and models for a good class are available, but on top of that I think teachers should combine teaching techniques flexibly. For example, grammar-translation is of certain value althought it is believed to be outdated. In my case, I still use Vietnamese to explain when students get stuck, but of course I hardly ever make use of that. Furthermore, pedagogical knowledge should be adapted and then put in practice to measure to make sure that it is suitable for different groups of students (young, adult, office workers…). To demonstrate, I usually apply CLT in my classes, but whenever I teach 2 classes with the same level, I always adjust my lesson plan because there always exist differences like students’ preferences, behaviors, learning styles…. One last thing, teachers’ majored knowledge should be accopanied with their teaching practice beliefs. Personally, teaching English is a chain of experiment-failure-success-tailoring, teachers can gradually make the most of TESL/TEFL knowledge and achieve their own teaching identity later on. I fell that from what students achieve from universities degrees are general knowledge with inadequate practices, especially in real life/ teaching context. Actually, I have graduated from English studies so that I totally have no idea about teaching methodology. There are a lot of things useful for my teaching. However, I usually focus on grammar and vocabulary for my students to face the exams, not focus much on skills. Because most of my students are low achieving, I usually use grammar translation and a lot of Vietnamese in teaching.

Young teachers can ask them to share teaching experience, strategies and show the willing to learn the new things. Teachers also can ask them for teaching observations or making some demo teaching lessons and learn from experienced-teachers' comments.

I think managing skills are not really sufficient, and teachers may have many troubles in problem-solving. Also, some teaching knowledge may not apply suitably in the particular context, especially for the very low achieving learners. (Ca Thị Tường Vy)
