In the thirties Rhumba, a Cuban-styled ballroom dance became very popular with it being a very socially centered dance. This all became popular when Cuban and Puerto Rican musicians began performing in New York City. These musicians blended traditional Latin rhythms with jazz, creating Latin Jazz. These sounds and culture were embraced by audiences and musicians, unfolding many Latin genres such as salsa, merengue, bachata, rhumba, and tango.

Cubans brought with them their cuisine, community, Catholicism and, most important for this discussion, music and dance.
The Cuban diaspora in Miami had a profound impact on music and dance. Later, other immigrants of Mexican origin influenced Tejano music, Puerto Ricans and Dominicans with salsa and merengue. Through the years, Latin music has been positioning itself, causing social, political and economic changes in the USA.

Music genres have influenced Latin music to go far, this goes with Latin pop having bilingual songs, and Tejano music having connections with the rhythm of German music.

Social media has a big impact of Latin music, its helped it growth world wide. Not everyone speaks spanish, but many non spanish spekers listen to our music for it rythem.

In recent years, the influence of social networks and music platforms (Facebook, Youtube, Spotify, Instagram, And Tiktok) have helped to increase the success of Latin music. Artists like Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Shakira and Los Trigres del Norte have influenced the culture and economy of the USA.
