Hello, My name is Brenson and I am 17 years old (sorry my picture is a little blurry). This will be my fourth semester here at Nash community college as I am a CCP student; as well as my senior year as a homeschool student. I don't really have many hobbies (what do you expect from a homeschooler lol), but I do enjoy spending time with my family, like watching football with my dad during football season and occasionally playing video games with my older brother when we both have the time for it. I'm currently pursuing a career in human services since I want to help people meet their needs and see their lives turned around for the better. Not only do I want to serve the immediate individuals that receive help, but also their family members since when one person becomes healthy, (mentally, financially, physically, spiritually etc.) that can encourage that persons family to become healthy too. One thing that may be helpful in this class would be to receive weekly reminders (perhaps on the first day of every week) of everything that is is due for the week just to make sure I haven't missed anything in the syllabus or Moodle. Finally, just to leave it on a positive note, I have a tuxedo cat named Zoro, and yes he was named after the famous movie character Zoro. :)

Hi my name is Leah Johnson. I have seven kids. Three girls and four boys. I have three Grandkids Malaya, Malaun, and Malachi. I have done many different things in my 38 years. I have been a pharmacy technician, retail store GM, Restaurant Manager ( Currently my full-time), Insurance Specialist, Hairdresser, Substitute Teacher (I still do this), PCA( I still do this) to name a few. But I always am drawn to children. My goal in earning this degree is to be able to work in the school system with children in need. To help them and their families find resources and face challenges. Hi, everyone my name is Kiyona Mack and this is my first time ever attending Nash Community College. I live out in Wilson NC but decided Nash would be better for me. I have four amazing boys that I raise with the help of my amazing partner which is also their Dad. I've also had a niche for psychology and understanding humans along with my humanitarian spirit. This is what brings me here to earn my degree in human resources concentrating on substance abuse. As far as how you can make this experience better for me, just continue to be you, Mrs. Walston. Hi everyone, I'm so excited to be in my junior year here at NCC. I'm an older student, but eager to learn. My college journey began at 56, so it's never too late to improve your life. I started in hospitality but switched over to Human Services/substance abuse because I am a recovering addict and I have a story someone needs to hear.
After my husband of 25 years passed away last year from COVID-related COPD, I reunited with my first love. I was fourteen, and he was seventeen, but it just wasn't our time. It is NOW! We share a cat, Alex aka "Trebek".
I live in Wilson (my hometown) and I currently work in the hospitality field. I was offered a new job just yesterday and I'm waiting for my decision to reveal itself, so ya'll wish me luck.
Guys, this is my second class with Ms. Walston and I can assure you, from my experience, she will do any and everything to help make this class a success for you. Just reach out to her. I can't think of anything she needs to improve upon.

Hi everyone,
My name is Heather Panepinto. I have been attending NCC since last summer to pursue a Human Service degree with a concentration in substance use. I have been in the behavioral health field for seven years. I started out as a peer support specialist at RHA. I earned my CADC credential in 2021. I am a CADC (substance abuse counselor) at PORT Health. I have been married for almost 28 years and have two adult children. I also have a fur baby named Gizmo and a grand fur baby named Lenny (pictured above). We adopted Gizmo last January. My husband and I are empty nesters and it has been quite an adjustment for this mama. I am so proud of my kids. My son is 26. He graduated from ECU. My daughter is 21. She is a senior at UNC-G. I enjoy going on trips, attending concerts, cooking, and exercising. I hope to obtain my Bachelor's degree in the near future. I wish everyone a successful semester and look forward to interacting with each one of you.

Hi everyone, My name is Taylor this is my Junior year attending NCC. I am studying Human Technology Substance Abuse. I got into this field in hopes to develop the area of Rocky Mount more regarding substance abuse. Rocky Mount is a very unserved community when it comes awareness, resources and outreach programs. On another note, I am a mother of a 13 year old girl name Alana. I like to go to the movies, arcades, basically anything fun. I am excited to see what this course my bring I am hoping to get more knowledge as it pertains to my career. One thing I would ask my instructor to do in this course is to give CLARITY. I think being clear on what is due, what's expected and being available for questions is super important. Clarity helps minimize a lot of confusion and repetitive questions.

Hello everyone! My name is Sara and this is my second year at Nash CC. I am currently pursuing a degree in Human Services Substance Abuse. I plan to graduate in 2024 if all goes as planned, and continue into the workforce. I would like to open a center for children and families impacted by drug addiction to help reunite families and create fundamental opportunities and memories. This is also my second year having classes with Mrs. Walston and I promise if you stay on top of your work, everything will be smooth sailing. I will be 29 years old on September 6th and I just gave birth to my daughter Avaeda on June 24th. I am juggling school, mom life, all while trying to get back into the workforce as well. Hey everyone! My name is Alyssa Hasan. I am a junior at NRM Early College and plan to major in Political Science. I want to attend law school and work in big law civil litigation services.

I love reading, shopping, traveling, and painting. I am an avid bookworm, and love to read when I am not forced to academically. I love shopping and my dad always jokes about how he's going to go broke because of me lol. I love traveling, and have been to several states/countries. My favorites have been Jordan, Palestine, New York, and Florida. I love this city more than the beach and plan to live in a city town. I also really love painting and tend to do so while watching Gilmore Girls.

I am a very social person so I enjoy talking to and meeting new people. So if you ever see me about I'll probably wave at you! I am always open to new friends and relationships. <3

Hello, all! I am Austin Daly. I work full-time in my family's mobile home park in Bailey, NC and I am working on becoming a substance abuse therapist over the course of my afternoons, nights, and weekends. I am taking a full load this semester so it tends to get a tad overwhelming, but I am sure it will be quite fulfilling when I graduate. I have a dog and 3 cats so I also spend a lot of time cleaning and vacuuming my home hahaha. I am very active at my church where I sing on the choir. When I'm allotted any free time in between all of that I enjoy playing video games (but really, I don't get to do this as much as I would like). I am currently a returning student after an 8 year hiatus; I graduated from ECU in 2014 with a Bachelor's of Arts in English with a minor in Philosophy. I am an avid writer (been writing poetry regularly for 27 years) and since I took up singing this past December, I look forward to putting some of those to music. I can speak from experience that you all will love Mrs. Walston; she was my favorite instructor last semester (and is my advisor so I may be a little biased). I look forward to sharing a fruitful semester with you guys!

Hello! My name is Anaiya Dunston! I have graduated last year from Wesleyan with a BA in Psychology and was searching for a degree that would help my knowledge have a better focus. So now at Nash I’m currently working towards an Addiction and Recovery Services degree, which I’m very excited for. For a little more about me, I’m currently 21 years old from Spring Hope, NC and expecting my first child in November! It’s going to be a little boy so I’m looking forward to that. The picture I included is of my pet rabbit named Monty! One thing I think would make for an awesome online course is clear due dates and structured notes/PowerPoints. I think that helps me to stay better organized and understanding of important information with the class being online.

Hello, I am Starr Randolph. I am married to my husband Isaac Randolph, who is a firefighter for the City of Rocky Mount. I have three beautiful children, Ariyanna 15, Nazir 5, and Starr 3 (Yes she has my whole name lol). I work full time and I am also in school full time. It has been my goal for a while to finish what I started years ago, which is to complete college. I recently lost my mother to cancer in 2021. Before she passed away she obtained her college degree. She was battling cancer the whole time but didn't know until she finished. Seeing her determination and drive on some of her worst days inspired me. I feel like if my mom could do it regardless of how she felt etc. then so can I. My goal is to have "DR." in front of my name. I am currently pursuing a degree in Human Services.
