Costa Rica is a country located in Central America. Its capital is San Jose. It is a tropical rainforest surrounded by coastlines. Costa Rica is bounded by Panama, Nicaragua, and the Pacific Ocean. It is extremely biodiverse and has endless wildlife. Costa Rica also has many volcanoes and beaches. It has a stable democratic government, and the population is over 5,000,000. Nearly 4/5 of the population is of European descent. There is a small percentage of both Chinese and indigenous people.

Costa Rica has multiple holidays, including Christmas, New year's, Easter, Independence Day (September 15). There is also a holiday called Semana Santa, which is a Holy week which causes some public transportation to be shut down for parades. Another holiday important to Costa Rica is called Dia de Guanacaste, July 25, a day in which Guanacaste became a part of Costa Rica.

Traditions and Food

For the Holidays, Costa Ricans enjoy light festivals, Christmas trees, and horse parades and fiestas. For food, traditionally slow cooked tamales would be made. Eggnog and fruitcakes are common as well.

Costa Rica celebrates Christmas as well, but there are far more holiday traditions there than in America. There are also many different holidays compared to the US. The holiday food is different than American, with tamales instead of turkey. Having been to Costa Rica, I can say that the biodiversity is unlike anywhere in America. It is full and luscious.
