He was probably trying to teach Conor why he shouldn't jump to conclusions without a good enough reason. Using that story showed Conor what happens when assuming things with no evidence or reason. But at the end of the story the queen is saved because she didn't do anything. She got frustrated and upset because a lot of her precious things were destroyed. Maybe she was upset about her precious things being destroyed because they costed a lot of money or they were antiques.
